Thought I would post some pics of the different waters we fish here in coastal Louisiana. We are truly blessed with the diversity of landscapes across the state. I live and work In Morgan City which sits at the southern end of the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest swamp in the United States.
We are fortunate to be able to launch a boat and within minutes be fishing Bass and Crappie in the fresh water lakes and canals or head south a few minutes and be fishing Redfish and Speckled Trout in the salt water marshes, bays, and lakes.

Saltwater marshes where we fish for Redfish and Speckled Trout. The top pic is of the Atchafalaya River Delta where it dumps into the Gulf of Mexico. It's the only place on the Louisiana coast that is actually building land. The rest of the coastal wetlands are vanishing at an alarming rate due to erosion.
And this is where I work. Petroleum Helicopters in Morgan City. The heliport sits on a peninsula that is bordered by Lake Palourde on one side and Bayou Beouf on the other side. We catch Bass and Catfish right from the shore and certain times of the year salt water backs up here and we catch Redfish with spinnerbaits and rattletraps.
Man those are some awesome pics of Louisiana! It's beautiful down there but........scary at the same time.

My son's 60lb tarpon and one of my 80lb+ tarpon. It was his first tarpon and it flat wore him out. He had a 120lb+ on for a few seconds. That would have killed him! lol!
I got an 80 and an 85. Both of which whooped me. If you're going to SW Florida, I have a guide service for you. He stays on them every day for months.
