Yep, but that bear-trap brain of yours clamped right down on it & added it to the user data base here!

Wayne, this is good info., thanks!

Where do you get this information? If you're figuring it out on your own or have a personal contact at Humminbird why don't they post this info. on their website in the support area when each user logs in? You should hit them up for some coin or free gear :)

FYI, HB has an update out there for the Helix units. There are some very appreciated changes in it, not all of them seem to be listed, but they are nice. Most notably are changes to the readouts. They are now much more customize-able, had some bug fixes corrected, and have been moved around to take up much less space on some screen...minimized to bottom left corner on some screens, and now displayed across the top on others. If you guys have not updated yet, you will probably be very happy when you do.

    Changelog.

HELIX 5 SI GPS (Version 7.730)
    Release Date: 08/03/2015

    • Nav Readout Support - Nav Readouts are user definable readouts that appear when the unit is in a navigation mode.
    • Color Palette Additions - There are four new 2D color palettes and four name changes
      • 2D

Is the Helix 5 Si update just for that specific unit? Or will it also update the Helix 5 DI model also?

Each S/W release is specific to THAT particular model, no interchangeability.

Just got back from the local Gander Mt. where I installed this software version on their display model.
Good looking stuff with the added imaging pallets and readout settings.

I might just be dumb, but has the 2X sonar screen always been there? Caught myself on it a few times and didn't realize it was up.

If Zoom is what you mean, yes all models have that and you can make it 4X, 6X, and 8X with the (+) button.
I set that view to Hidden. The more zoom you use, the more pixel blocky it looks.

Thinking I might do just that. With the pixels, it looks pretty terrible and I have found zero use for it so far during the normal course of fishing.

I usually chop off the top 15' of my range & use either a 2X or 4X zoom at times ice fishing.
Of course I am in deeper water ~ 45-60' and zoom is good enough to tell if bait's been snatched most days.
2D on the boat, usually never more than 2X for me.
I'm sending another email Wayne - it's new S/W but I haven't installed it yet...

Im new to this, please be nice. I'm thinking about buying a Hummimgbird Helix 5 SI/GPS combo. Can you tell me about things I should know about this unit, updates. can I operate a trolling motor with it? I just want some expert info before I buy it. Thank you, burtonde.
