Chester County Bass Masters held their fourth of five opens for the season on Sept 20th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

The title sponsor for the tournament was Sunoco Inc.

Anyone who has fished the Upper bay for any length time knows the end of summer /early fall transition period is a tough time to locate the Bays prodigious largemouth population. 21 Teams showed up to try and beat the odds of boating a 5 fish limit during this time.

Morning air temps in the mid 50's rose to the around 80 by weigh in. Scattered cloud cover for the day and a light breeze made for a really nice day on the water. Water temps were in the 65 - 70 degree range depending where you fished, with stained water in the Northeast.

Launching on rising tide, along with a couple of other club tournaments sent teams scrambling to find decent starting spots with most heading down towards the Flats looking for some big females.

The bay lived up to the tough transition period as only 3 limits were brought to the scales for the 2:30 weigh in, including 2 bags over 15 pounds.

5 cash places were paid, along with 3 sponsor gift cards from Tackle Depot, Sunoco and D2 Lures.

Eagle One car/boat care prize package was also given to the team with the second tournament lunker.

First place cash went to the team of Donnie Tomlin and Adrian Avena bringing in a healthy 5 fish limit of 17.96 pounds along with the Tournament Lunker of 6.30 pounds.

Second place money went to the team of Jake Schauber and Kyle Gabriele with a nice bag of 15.95 pounds. Jake and Kyle also had the second lunker for the tournament, a fat 5.66 pounder that won them a nice selection of Eagle One car care and boat products.

Third place prize money went to Michael Piccolo, fishing solo Mike brought in a limit of bass weighing 10.41 pounds.

Fourth place cash went to the team of Chris Savidge and Ben Werbos with 3 fish for 8.66 pounds.

Fifth place money went to the team of Steve Weimar and Sam Montalto with 4 fish for 8.02 pounds.

Sixth place paid a $50.00 Tackle Depot gift card and went to Alan Pekasiewicz and Griffin Ludwig with 2 fish for 7.14.

Seventh place paid a $ 25.00 Sunoco gas card and went to Ed Reese and Nick Biondi with 4 fish for 6.70 pounds.

Eighth place was good for a $ 25.00 GRT Jig / D2 lures gift certificate and won by Eric Anderson and Tim Adams with 2 fish for 6.44 pounds.

Thanks to all who participated. The last Chester County open will be on November 8th out of Anchor Marine.

we still plan to do some work on the boats tomorrow. Troy has some things to do to his G (batteries), so we may run to Cabela's. Not sure if we're doing the injectors and reeds as our buddy never called to say for sure if he was coming.
