    Mercury Black Max Serial Number

Got a serial number A179234. Can anybody tell me what this is and how to decipher the serial numbers. It has a 200 cowl and stickers but I can't find anything when I search for the serial number.

Who can decipher this Merc serial #? A179335. The cowling indicates Black Max 175, but can't seem to find a graph to match that up with. (The engine is mounted on a brown/gold 1983 Champion 184 FishnSki, that has "Lady Marcia" still showing where stenciling was removed).

I believe he just did....Maybe the cowling was replaced or new stickers put on. And what "graph" are you looking for? Also, you should post this in the 3 liter forum, this forum is for 115hp and below,

the second inquiry is a different guy.

add a “0” (zero) to the front of your motor and enter into a online parts finder for some info, or wait until a Mercury tech/dealer responds. Though, best to ask in a new thread to reduce confusion. Also, your motor is likely to be in the forum below, the 2.5 L forum.
