just need a little help some what modified 2.4 liter mariner

have mariner carborated with some modifications don't know what year as the id labeled on the bracket is not right. here goes lost power yesterday would get up on plane then just bogged down rpm loss big time it is a 200 hp 2.4 liter .020 over. center section modified to exhaust out there instead of through the prop. compression is 135 to 145 ran it up to 4000 rpm with timing light no misses by strobe looks strong. can jack it up to over 7000 rpm no load so feel its not a cylinder or fuel problem. could it be electrical and how can I check it is not oil injected and was told to only run premium gas in it. if electrical what can I check voltage wise the so called voltage regulator is quite large and I believe is water cooled. it attaches to the block and has an o ring. compression right bank was 135, 135,135 left bank was 145 145 135 any help would be appreciated. I also see that maybe it has a high and low stator of course I don' know what they do. and maybe something called a trigger?

WE are having allot of fuel line issues with the new eth fuel. Try hitting the enrichener when she hits the wall. If that picks it up look for fuel delivery.

well you hit the nail on the head. hoses were not quite 3 years old. and appear to be teflon lined maybe three had complete failure of the lining restriting fuel flow. hose from tank to primer bulb not as bad but still failing. the only hose tha was not failing is the one i replaced this year the primer to the fuel pump. wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't seen it. thanks for the tip jay

new question the lower carb appears to have junk under the needle valve as it is filling and not shutting off and gas coming out the vent model numbers 1374-5427 wh body and 1374-7561 bottom plate so I pulled the cover off of the carbs and noticed that they only have vent jets on one side although it has threads for both sides? why are these carbs like that? I figured this is from the hose failure junk in carb. have carb off cleaned it up and wating for new gaskets. the top and bottom carbs are the ones missing one vent jet would be bottom right side and top left side. the center carb has both jets in?

there are no wh's numbers on them but the engine will turn well over 6,000 rpm. and from what I read these jets are for mid range? and would they be the same as the one that's in there on the opposite side? these are the vent jets the ones that sit outside the carborator looking at the face. not the internal ones. this engine has been running like this for 3 years.

Do they look like these ? I run .046 jets in my wh46 and 20 carbs ,on that circuit, they spin 73-7500 and idle like a honda car motor, should all have jets in them.

The missing jets are backdrag jets, not idle, and are supposed to be missing. This results in a slightly richer mixture in the midrange on cylinders 2 and 5,Chris

Many of the WH46 carbs had the WH on one side and the 46 on the other side. and many 2.4s had these carbs.

I thought I would ask the Pros here, I researched the numbers on my carbs 1374-7561 for a lead to what carb rebuild kit I need, this is for a 1984 Black Max 200 .
Do you happen to know the Mercury number rebuild kit to order for these three carbs? my engine S/N 6474784 it seem to be the V200.

No worries, just back out of this screen and there should be a button toward the top left of the screen labeled 'Post new Thread'. Mine is blue, not sure if you can change the theme.
