    Tin Rig Setups

    Hey everyone,
This is the thread where you post your setup info to help out other guys trying to get the best performance out of their rigs. Especially guys getting new boats set up or adding accessories. Please add a title to your post with the model of boat and year so it is easier to find when folks are scanning through. Provide any specific info such as wot rpm, prop pitch and what type of prop, water pressure, which mounting hole the engine is mounted on the transom or jack plate if you have one and which type, prop to pad or hull bottom measurement you are running holeshot speed and overall handling characteristics and type of load you carry. If you have multiple props or setups you run for different conditions post info for all of them. The more info the better and the more it helps. If you would like to post the link for a thread about a setup that is ok as well the limk will always be there if somone wants to comment or ask a question later on it will appear back at the top. Also please do not comment on this thread in the sticky. If you have a question or comment on the setup of interest please PM that person directly or start a new thread in the regular forum below. This way this sticky thread is easier to navigate and less confusing

    2001 Crestliner CX1860

    2001 Crestliner CX1860 with Johnson 90hp
    19p aluminum prop
    43mph gps so far...

I'm saving for a 20p SS Raker prop. I'm heavy at 345lbs so I've been playing with the weight in the boat and think I may have a new top speed as I achieved 43 with partner, full tank and full livewell in tourney. Once I get to 45 I'll be happy.

    UPDATE!!!

My dad fixed my tachometer. Pole settings were stuck, moved, something??? Anyway, we took the boat out on Thursday. 3/4 tank of gas, normal tackle, forgot to put plug in livewell so about 4" deep in livewell. I hit a top speed of 42.1mph at 5450 rpms. That was running in about a 8-12" chop. I'm 350lbs and dad is 220, so we have a lot of weight in boat. I found that when I started to get some prop blowout if I kept it right on the edge of letting loose it would finally grab and I could inch the trim up on it. By doing this I gained the lift I was sure the boat could do. Trimmed this high turning is out of the question though as it would immediately let loose. I'm just tickled to have it where it is. Marina agreed to let me try a used prop out if they had what I wanted in stock so I'm gonna do that on my next trip if I can. I want to see what a 20 or 21 ss prop would do for me.

    2011 Crestliner VT19
    2011 115hp Optimax

I know I can get better speeds, but I lost my need for speed and I prefer to keep my warranty.

    2013 Lowe 18HP Stinger

Specs below. I've hit 54.6 at 5800 in a slight chop at 56 degrees air temp. The last two times I've run in smoother water and air temp of 70 degrees and have gotten 53.3 and 52.6 at 5600. Motor is on second hole and Lowe has welded a bead on second and third steps to stop porpoise. Mine also looses bite on right turns, but a trim bump down takes care of it.

I have the same rig you do except mine is a 2007 190 TX, with a 90 hp 2006 Optimax. We may be underpowered but the gas milage is great. I have installed an CMC 5 1/2" manual jack plate and raised the motor some, have not measured the pad to prop dimension. I am running 45 to 47 mph, GPS depending on conditions. My prop is a Mercury Trophy Plus 21"P. I was running the same speed you are with a 19" Laser II but could never run WOT and trim it out without exceeding reccomended 5,750 RPM's and motor shutting down. Now I am staying it the 5600 RPM range.

    2001 Tracker PT165

2001 PT 165, 15hp Merc 2 stroke (HP limited lakes). 17.5 mph GPS w/ 9P prop @ 5400 rpm; 16.7 mph GPS w/ 7P prop "redlined" @ 6000 rpm. Probably have another 400 rpm w/ the 7P (6000 is the recommended limit), so, an 8P prop would be ideal. It's a moot point as there will be a 25 hp Merc on the back shortly, probably starting out with a 12P aluminum and will go from there. HB 998 @ the console.

    2004 Triton V176 Magnum

'04 Triton V176 Magnum. 115 Optimax. 19p 4 blade SS prop with 2 vent plugs out. Currently the fastest I've got it was about 47.5. I just got a new 22p SS prop though so when that goes on I'm hoping to break 50.

    UPDATE:
I tried out my new 22P SS prop last weekend. I hit 50, but my hole shot took a beating. I think I'm going to stick with the 19p as I'd rather have a better hole shot than 2-3 mph. The 22p has 3 square vent plugs that I suppose I could drill out. But I don't want to drill out a brand new $300 prop just to see if it works.

    2008 Triton 170DS SC

    2008 Triton 170DS SC
2008 90 hp Mercury "Classic" (non Optimax)
22p Laser II with added cup by Croxton
    No jack plate

46.5 GPS @ 5800 rpm (but can spin it higher than that)

Still working on the prop setup. Should be around 50 mph if I ever get it dialed in.

    2008 Crestliner

Hey guys, I have a 19' crestliner bass boat, its a 2008 wth a 2008 mercury 115 optimax. I have a 6" jackplate, running a 21 pitch ss prop and get about 49mph at 5600 rpm. My concern is after I take off with trim down I can only trim a tiny bit before it porpoises. I get no prop slip or rooster tail. any help?
