Dobyns DX795 is the best flippin stick I have ever laid my hands on. The $349 price tag seems to be a reach for most people though. Dobyns also makes a Savvy Series SS766 that is an awesome flippin stick in the $150 price range. They also have a 7'6" and 8 footer in the Champion Series that are great rods in the $230 - $240 range.

I've flipped with a pile of different rods in the last several years, from All Stars to G Loomis GLX and everything in between. Without a doubt, the Dobyns have been the best balanced and the most durable flippin sticks I've ever handled.
The Dobyns DX795 is the best all around flipping stick that I have ever used. It is balanced and is a real joy to pitch with

I have the Dobyns Fury 805 and love it, I've also flipped with the Powel Max 3D 795 and really liked that one as well. And the Fitzgerald 7-6 XH original series flipping rod.

I see lots of recommendations for rods in excess of your price point. Personally I have fished all brands GLoomis, St. Croix, Daiwa, Falcon, and Dobyns and believe that the Daiwa Tatula series fits the price point and is an excellent choice. Not necessarily the best but in my opinion the best for the price.

    Chunker,

I'm looking to upgrade a couple of my flipping sticks and want to try one of or maybe both of those. Looking for one to flip 3/4-1 oz jigs (795?) and a dedicated 1.5-2oz punching rod (805?) . Would those two fit the bills well in your opinion?

Been using Cashions for a few years and really like their 7'6" sticks for lighter pitching (for now at least), but their two 8 foot models have proven pretty heavy to use all day.

That's exactly the weights I use them both for,795 is rated up to 2 oz..but IMO 1 1/2 is max.

Agreed with Frogchunker. My Dobyns Fury 805 I think is rated for 2 oz but that would be pushing it. My Fitzgerald 7-6 XH is rated for 2 oz and could handle it. The Dobyns isn't the lightest flipping stick ever but the most well balanced one I've used.

The dobyns 795 is realistically up to a 1oz. Anything over that I feel it's maxed out. A 1oz jig with a trailer is perfect. Anything above that and I go to the Powell max 3d 806. It's the best punching rod made imo

VEXAN rods will handle it all. They will cost ya around $150. Not the lightest rod on the market, but I will put them up against any rod on the market. Super strong rods.
