What will fiber reeds do for this motor?

There is a major diference between reeds. We had for years been a Boyesen reed distributer and have had great sucess with them for over 10 years. About 9 years ago when developing our Yamaha and Mercury race programs, we came across Carbon Fiber reeds and found serious performance (hp, lap times, and MPH). We never measured 1 hp out of the Boyesen reeds but these Carbon Fiber reeds have shown as much as 7 hp. We now only sell our Carbon Fiber reeds on all our larger motors. Can I say what exactly how much on yours? We usually install them with Phase I, II, III kits. See what BWM said:

    1) 2002 TR20
    2) VX225TLRA
    3) Prop - Tempest + 25P, Yam 27M
    4) 27M 69GPS, 5100RPM
    25P 67GPS, 5100RPM
    5) 10" manual, 1.5 - 3.5" below pad

Looking for low end torque, improved fuel economy
Would fiber reeds help? Any suggestions?

Your Rpms concern me, you should be turning more than 5100.......We like to see the rpms 5600 to 5800. Are you able to use all your trim when you are making a top end run? If so, I suggest you get a 23 pitch prop before you try any engine mods.

Question for ya. Do you have any throttle left and you stop at 5100 because of the chime walk? I would think that a 25 tempest would be the prop of choice for that set up and about 2 1/2 below pad.

Well..........there you go you will never realize any gains if you can't drive the boat on the big end. Although our Carbon reeds will show hole shot and mid range.

There is throttle and trim left. As I said before "Crappy driver". I'm working on it a gallon at a time.

I agree with Spider, the 25 should be the prop and it will be a little better on fuel enonomy
