Better be in the eye of the beholder.

This beholder prefers the vacuum extraction method. I did my F200 via the drain plug method one time. Never again. In less time than it took to get the skirt off to gain access to the drain plug I can suck all of the oil out. No chance of the drain plug threads in the oil pan ever becoming stripped. Far less mess also.

By pulling the plug you know you're getting all the old oil out. It's an easy job just make sure you don't over fill it. Like SkeetRJ said raise and lower you engine a few times to make sure you get all the trapped oil as well and all so when you refill it to get any trapped air out.
watch out for the bushings. They hit the floor running. LOL

I got my last supplies from http://www.simyamaha.com/

I've done a few oil changes now and still running the same impeller. I don't have a lot of hours on the boat so I may not be the best to ask but so far so good. I may change it this year.

Do you let your engine warm up some before sucking out the oil or just cold?

Never had a problem sucking it out cold. I prefer the suction method for an oil change mid season but have the shop pull the plug once a year when they do a full service.

After doing a few oil changes thru the drain plug and making a mess on the floor the oil shoots out so far, that I finally bought an EWT manual or pneumatic oil extractor and didn't spill a single drop. Raised and lowered the motor several times and it works perfectly! Wish I had bought this when I had my Chevy Duramax, diesel is a mess too!

How are you guys warming up the engine without the nose cone for the oil change? Can you use just the built in flush system at the the side?
