    Yamaha 200 HPDI

About to buy a 2006 Skeeter ZX22 bay loaded out with everything. It as a 200 Yamaha HPDI. Good motors? Thanks

I would read every post on the first 3 pages here with HPDI in the title.

And then ask questions about what you have read.

Oh, it is good if you specify the complete model of the motor. I suspect that it is a VZ200 but it might be a Z200. Different motors altogether.

It's a Z200. I know what y'all are talking about with the 250's and 300's. But I've read many post on other forums about a 200 HPDI being one of the best engines ever built

Yep, those are all 250's and 300's. I've read a lot of other forums like on 2coolfishing and the Hull Truth that 200 HPDI is one of the best engines ever made. The 250's and 300's blew up a lota lot

Strange that the boat would have a Z200 on it. But, so it is.

It is not the HP of the HPDI that is the significant factor. It is the size of the block.

Yes, Z200. The grey one. I've ran Evinrude all my life so I'm not very familiar with Yamaha

The comment was made that the 250 and 300 HPDI's have had trouble and that the 200's are one of the best. What about the 225's?

The 225 is the same engine as the 250 / 300. It is detuned to only turn out 225.

Not sure. I've only heard about 250's and 300's

So let me ask this a different way, have the 225's had the same issues as the 250's and 300's? And with the frequency that those 2 have had issues?

Yes. Some run a long time. Some don't. The actual % rate of failure is unknown, but no doubt it is high.
