Except for parts under the flywheel, which requires a special puller, most every part is replaceable without much effort or specialty items.
The most important thing is to have the correct service manual for reference, illustrations, and procedures.

OEM parts....no CDI or Sierra stuff.....
Swapped out a bad CDI control box(failed after motor and box got to operating temp) and 4 coils(3 died and one came apart) in this week on 2 different motor. Box was 1 year old and coils where 2 weeks and 6 months old. CDI/Sierra equals junk. OEM for me....

When I got my 1991 Fast Strike 175, I changed thermostats and springs, plugs, wires, water pump, fuel filters, lower unit oil, checked trim oil, checked all connections both electrical and fuel and oil, lubed cables and swivel. First thing I actually did was buy an OMC repair and service manual.

Thx all...
