Just a "heads-up" to those of you buying new rigs/engines that were manufactured after January 1, 2013 (as well as some select engines from late 2012):

READ YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL... Especially the section explaining the WARNING HORN.

New calibrations are in use, and WARNING HORN STRATEGIES have CHANGED.

Faults are now classified as "Critical" and "Non-Critical".

A SOLID HORN tone indicates you need to SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN and seek immediate service.

An Intermittent horn tone indicates a "Non-Critical" fault, allowing you to return to port and get the engine in for service.

Warning horns may cease to sound after six (6) seconds... and Guardian may be active.

Do NOT assume that just because you no longer hear the horn, everything is "ok". Horns are often silenced after six seconds, on the presumtion that if you did not shut the engine down by then, you're ignoring the horn.
