My attempt at the home made locker bar. I purchased 2 splash well drains, a roll pin (I put electrical shrink wrap on the pin so it wouldn't scratch), the alarm lock offered on ebay, a stainless steal rod. I have around $75.00 in this. I now will buy a aluminum angle iron so I can secure the front compartment on my Skeeter.

I'm still confused, what is the application for the lock? how does it stay put?

On mine, the insert on the lock side has no bottom(or end) in so you push bar in that side very deep(like 4 or 5 in). Then you put bar in hole opposite of lock ( Which does have bottom or back in it). That side and the lock stops it from moving. Rodneys pic used roll pin instead of insert with a bottom to it. Hope this helps.
awsome
Looks good, but I'd think it would not take much (channel lock pliers maybe) to remove the roll pin and their in the boat without even messing with the lock

Possibly
Note in this pic about 3" down from the roll pin are dents... This is where I had it in a vice so I could hold it to "pound" the pin in. I purposely made the hole for the pin too small. If I would have known I was denting the pipe before I was done I'd drilled the hole a little larger.
I believe these are more of a deterrent than absolute break in proof. I believe thieves are looking for the easy score. All my tackle is insured.
Bump to the top. Hope this helps
I think its a great inventive way to lock boxes, but are you afraid that with a hammer it could easily be removed? Just wack the fiberglass and your in. Use the claws to pry open lids. I'd rather be robbed of gear than have my boat destroyed and robbed of gear.
I think a good motion alarm would be better. Or install a Front Point Home Alarm system. Use a converter for power. It's connected by cell phone towers.
I think I'll just get two pieces of conduit that will slide into each other and drill a hole in the middle through both pipes for the lock.

This idea of the bar with a cheap vibration alarm will (without a doubt) keep your stuff in your boat. If someone (scumbag) sees the bar, they may still have some interest. As soon as they jerk on the bar, or step in the boat, they will hear the alarm and they will leave. Because most of them know you will be there soon after the alarm sounds.

@Mrc.in.Wi, I guess my best security then would be to use my lock-r-bar and park next to you then, they'll rob you and not bother with mine!
