    flywheel get HOT

    just got a 1975 johnson 70 hp outboard, trying toget it started ...notest that the flywheel is getting hot while i have the battery on charge .can anyone help me with that problem

    You may have a shorted diode rectifier allowing battery voltage to reach the alternator windings under the flywheel making them get hot.

    how many amps are you charging?hopefully not quick start 40 amps

    10 amps need to get a new battery does not hold a charge. try a qutck charge to see if it turn over then went back to 10 amps
