I use a Falcon Cara Reaction 7'4" H. The Mike McLelland Rod. Love it for this setup.

If you like the Powell Rods any of their 734 rods would be great 3/4 oz footbal jig rods.

7'6" MH Abu Garcia Veritas... And yes the tip has been replaced... Don't go much heavier than 3/4 for a football jig..? I will on a Carolina rig...but I will use a f-jig more and a Texas rig over a c rig...

Reels are either Revo S or SX gen 1 or 2s ..I mainly
use PLine xxtra tuff 12 or 15 on my night time stuff..I use seaguar flouro 17 or 20 and Berkley vanish 10 or 12 on my cranking rigs...

Lews Custom Speed Stick Lite football jig model.

You want a moderate or moderate fast action. Casts farther, and it helps me keep the rod loaded and the fish pinned. Important because you're pulling these fish from deep and a distance. A good football jig rod will have those properties without losing sensitivity.
