My 1998 Lund 1700 ProSport before the 10" HydroJacker install, diamond plate has replaced all wood in the boat and the transom is now pultruded fiberglass lamination to handle the extra HP as its only factory rated for a 115. Livewell were opened up to full width with pneumatic springs and SS latches.

The 1991 Merc is lightly warmed over, prop is a 24" Tempest Plus. She does over 60mph but honestly I cruise it at 1/3 throttle at 38-40mph, going too fast in it isn't wise on the narrow rivers here...it steers like a flats boat near 70 and can chine walk if you sneeze the wrong way. The hydraulic steering was a wise investment but I still don't have cool day top speed for it yet, it's a handful without a foot throttle so I haven't had a chance to really wring it out.

However this exercise wasn't about top speed it was about big block performance in a small boat and good cruise fuel economy, it's actually really good on fuel at 40 mph...much better than the 90HP Merc that the boat came with...and that motor could never push her to 40mph.

The trailer was a disaster when we picked the boat up in the spring so we did a complete rebuild this fall with epoxy primer, aluminum paint and diamond plate...pics of the completed trailer is on my SLR. If you guys want I can upload those later, ran out of warm weather though so it still doesn't have electrical...LED's are in the garage for spring install.

Actually the AL is cooler on the feet than the carpet, I carpeted the front section again after replacing the wood with AL only becuase the kids often sit up front. I'm going to remove it and make pads to fit, the carpet burns the feet on hot days.

Had lots of people say the AL plate will be too shiny, too hot, hard on the feet, slippery, scratch easy...none of those things ended up being true...best thing I ever did for the boat.

The motor is actually a 2.5L EFI, 7 port model.

Heres some pics of trailer mid rebuild, shes done now except for lights and covered for winter.
