Hey Guys! I still get asked by some how to take advantage of Navionics SonarChart layer and activate it on your Lowrance, Raymarine and Humminbird units. Here's a video I did alongside Paul Michele from Navionics and Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Seth Feider demonstrating the ease of activating SonarCharts on your units. Check it out.

You did well at the James River Open.

Thomas Harris told me you were there.

Thanks Wayne! I really worked hard there and have had success there in the past. Thomas has been a huge help for me in understanding how that tide changes things and sets up the fish and no bs, the SonarChart layer has helped me two years in a row when it comes time to target key areas on the high tide. Glad you were there helping out on the James River making better maps. I too was mapping to join my efforts. The Chick will de dialed!

PS - I was looking forward to officially meeting you but missed that opportunity. Now I know you're in the area, I'll let you know next time I'm around. Thanks!

Here's a few of my tracks.

I am going there again Wednesday and fill in some blank areas for Sonar Charts during high tide. Might catch a fish or three during the low tide period.

Got this screen shot from playing back some of the recordings of my sonar logs there:

Yes, if you purchased the Navionics+ and did not get it as a package deal with a Lowrance. You enter that information to be reminded of Community Edits downloads for Lowrance units.

The ONIX can read the Community Edits also.

The Navionics+ US and Canada is currently a 16GB card.

The first version of Navionics+ was a 2GB card and had no maps on it. You had to download your choices for locations for Nautical Charts and Sonar Charts up to the 2 GB capacity.

You have to trade-in the 8GB for the 16GB card. You have already paid for the data, just need Navionics to send you the 16GB card.

Contact them with your account information that you registered to activate the Freshest Data program.
If you did not do that, you have 60 days from the purchase date to register and do an update or you loose that capability.

I do not know what was on a 8GB Navionics+ card. Did not know one existed. It must have been an early version of what is now the preloaded 16 GB card.

What does the box state that the card came in?????

Just the original Navionics+ TWO GB card had no maps.

Does the card have any maps for anywhere on it or just not the location/s you need?????

One more question, did you directly purchase the card or was it included in a package deal with a unit purchase?

That was a package deal card. I am not familiar with it. From what others have stated, it is not a universal sonar mfg card like a regular Navionics card is.

Did you register it as you should have?

Put the card in your computer and click on the drive it is in, click on the Navionic folder to see what the data is. If there are maps, there will be a list of states and/or partial states with the dates that the data was put on the card.

Just got off the phone with Navionics they are sending me the universal card. This card will only work with the unit it came with. Had this card left from a previous unit and never used it.

I may be in the wrong thread here, and if so, feel free to move. I have the humminbird helix 7 DI GPS. I am wanting to add Navionics to it. Can someone tell me which version I would need? Thanks!

Any version you want, but it will only read the Nautical Charts and Sonar charts of any card.

If you only fish/navigate on waters covered by the East Region, then the new Navionics+ Region East is a good choice. $149 MSRP

If you also visit waters not in the East Region--like Guntersville, Ala, the Navionics+ Preloaded 16GB card is the best one since you would not have to purchase multiple region cards. $199 MSRP
