If it doesn't, New case # and the odyessy will continue. Also, as part of their communication to me during this process, which is limited to need to know at best, they have never indicated that you could fix the issue with a software update or download to the chip. That maybe where they are trying to go but that is not what they are doing here. Not sure where this notion has come from but they are fixing mine by replacing with a new chip that they say "works." I am counting on it and will know for sure in a few days.

Sorry for the delay but I finally had access today to a decent internet connection and I was able to update the latest Navionics Hotmaps Platinum south mapping card. I tested the card in one of my HDS gen 3 9's and the card functioned properly including the satellite photo overlay prior to updating. After updating all 3 categories on the card, the card again tested good in one of my gen 3 9's. I want to thank navionics for following through and continuing to chase this problem for nearly 4 months. It appears that they now have a handle on it. If you have had the same problem with this chip, I would contact their technical support for a fix.

I had no issue with the chart installer recognizing my card. I assume you are using the latest version of chart installer? Tommy may have some ideas?

NBD, FC - I had an issue with a NIB card and it took a bit of trouble shooting but Navionics was quick to replace it.

You may have got a bad card, it happens!

The new one I got was activated before they ever sent it to me.

It sounds like the activation part isn't working for you...

I just give a try on mine and it work. Did you uninstall from the program or from the control panel?

Did you verify in the Google Chrome if the Navionics extensions if the Navionics Chart installer was check?

I just update my card and it works so that eliminate a problem on Navionics side.

First, my previous card being used on the website, updates was thru the chart installer program, so i had no issues from day one when i downloaded program and registered the card......to answer your questions, yes, i uninstalled / removed program from control panel. As for the extension, i dont remember anything asking me. I'll retry that when i get back from town......i think its the card as i had no problem with the previous.....i plan on calling Navionics tomorrow and see what they say.....

Also i have been in contact with Tommy.....

Thanks Andre. I have been talking with Fishin by PM with some things to check out. Hopefully will have an answer tomorrow. Nothing major and has happened to me with a new/replacement card so easily resolved...just need to follow a couple possibilities. Not going to make guesses or assumptions here until we have it pinned down but the good news is Navionics is on it and helping anyone with issues. I talked by PM with Basscfo and that has been resolved and everyone is pleased.

Must have been a glitch on my PC....i called tech support and downloaded the program on my work PC using WIndows 7 & Google Chrome (same as home), plugged card and it recognized it right away but didnt do any updates......got home last night, plugged card into home PC and it worked......so i'd guess that it was something on my home PC. Did some updates last night with no issues.

Did my final update the other night, the nautical charts (with aerial background), tested it out in both units and all was great.....aerial was there, shading worked and satisfied. Just want to give a big THANKS to Tommy who worked with Navionics on this issue and got some resolution on the issue.

If i ever meet you, i'll buy the beer.......

So for the rest of the people, what do they do? Is this a contact navionics thing and see where the problem lies?

Contact Help@Navionics.com. They will immediately issue you a claim number. They will ask for your card number, the brand/type of unit and a screenshot to verify the defective issue.
I have been working on this since last year and it has been a very hard problem to pin down because it was very spotty, just a glitch here and there and not consistent across the entire Platinum platform. Short answer from my information is missing files during updates.
Kudos to Navionics Tech for finding it and Customer service for supporting the resolution.

So far, thanks to all of the anglers I have helped with these issues. They have been great to talk with and a pleasure to help get them up and running 100%.

FISHIN!! Done Deal !! Thanks and is there a quantity or brand limit on the offer :)))

My personal choice and the card that I use to do training events is the HMPT-E6 , Hotmaps Platinum East card. It is very superior in capabilities to any other card allowing customization for seasonal patterns, highlighting areas/shadings etc to much better define lake structure. The other very good card is the Navionics+ regional card. It provides excellent contours and is about $50 cheaper. I am in TN and your comment about "most" of your time in NC and TN would be covered in that card. GA coverage is limited to around the state borders so no coverage further down into GA. You can go to Naivonics.com and find the map showing the layout of coverage but your location and all of TN are well covered. If you absolutely must have all of GA, then the Navionics+ USA/Canada full coverage card would be the choice.
Both cards have free updates for 1 year after purchase, and updated data abt 2000 times per day so both cards can be kept very up to date.
So, summary: the very best with all features is the Hotmaps Platinum East and next choice is the excellent but fewer customizing features is the Navionics + Regional East card.
Regardless of which you choose..you MUST register your card with Navionics within 60 days at Navionics.com to get the 1 year of free updates. Note that after your free year, your card stays the same as your last update.... OR you can re-subscribe for free updates for another year for $99. Totally your call.

I have been experiencing the shading problem mentioned earlier in this thread and worked through prostaff1 (Tommy) to remedy. As Tommy stated it took awhile for Navionics to identify the source of the problem. I followed the steps provided by prostaff1 and have now received a replacement Platinum South card. I have put the card through the paces and everything seems to be resolved. I would like to offer a big thanks to prostaff1 and to Jennifer doCanto at Navionics. I know there were others involved, but these were my main contact points.

I know it took a long time and required a lot of patience on all our behalfs, but at the end of the day, the issue was taken care of, which is all I was looking for. Thanks again!

I had the same issue with my Platinum card as stated above. Luckily for me Navionics had already worked out the bug and I emailed help@navionics.com and reported the problem. I also contacted Tommy ( prostaf1 ) and told him I had sent the email. He contacted me immediately and I had a case number assigned the next day. About 3 days later a brand new card came in the mail. It also came with a new warranty and another year of free updates.
I can't say enough about this customer service. It's second to none.

Thanks Navionics and thanks again Tommy.

The new Regions cards are in stock at most dealers! Only $149 and comes with SonarChart Preloaded! Buying a HB or Lowrance? Check to see if they qualify for a additional $50 rebate! Check with BBC dealers and sponsors first!!
