Hey guys, when you export a region to an SD card, does it add to the existing or does it replace it ? For example, if I want to export a section of Lake Champlain and add it to my SD card under the Champlain.usr tab, will it add the new info to the existing information or replace the whole thing with the new info ?
You don't "export" or copy any Navionics data to a map card. You don't own the software that writes the map files.
If you have the Navionics+ card, you select the area with Chart Installer software and download that to the card.
You can add data until the card's capacity is full, then delete it all and do it over again with the locations you want.
That lasts for a year with either a new purchase or renewed subscription.
.usr is not a map file that is a GPS data file. Mapping is not GPS and GPS is not mapping.

Not talking about the Nav + or the update, talking about downloading wpts to an SD card.

I believe it will want to replace it. I'm not 100% though. Just be sure you save onto a blank SD and not a Navionics card. Just in case.
Thanks Josh
Anybody have a clue as to why my "freshest data" expired after only 3 months. Who in the world would I even contact about getting my remainder months?
Contact them at: http://www.navionics.com/en/customers
You can also give them a call but be sure to have you're card serial #; That's the # on the card and if you have you're purchase proof it could be even better. I never heard about a expiration before the due date.
This sounds exactly like a situation I had earlier this year. The guy bought a new card and failed to register it within the 60 days. Then of course he lost the ability for updates. Then BassPro called me, he called me and turns out he claimed no one told him although it is VERY plainly explained on the packaging. Seems here that the timeframe mentioned of three months would match this issue. Could be, could not be but it is a possible answer. IF it was not registered, then it would expire.
Agree with Andre that a call to Navionics is the only way to resolve the question and I also have never heard of a random denial of service mid term.

It was registered and I did update it once, not sure what the deal is but I'll give them a call on Monday. I still have the receipt from Bass Pro where I bought it. Thanks guys

Grout, when did you buy the card. The updates are good for one year, I'm sure you know that..but if time flew by and it has gone over the year without realizing it and without renewal, than that also could be a possibility. The call to Navionics should shed some light on it. Should be easy to figure out especially if you have the receipt. GL

Awesome thread with lots of great information. I spent this weekend going page by page so if I am repeating this question please forgive me.
I have been doing research on chartplotters trying to decide which product to purchase, and have decided to go with the HDS Gen 3. Now I'm I trying to decide which mapping platform to go with. I'm leaning towards Navionics. My question is whether to go with the Navionics + plus or Hot Maps Platinum. From what I can tell the 3D view with the Hot Maps seems to be the only difference between the 2. Are there any other differences/advantages in going with Hot Maps over the plus?
Yes you are right but with the Navionics+ there is no region specific you choose what you need when the Platinium is by region.
Some regions are more well serve then others when we compare 3D. For me in Canada the 3D is very limted.
I just got the brand new platinum navionics out of box and went to download. Have a Mac, went through the procedures and started to download but it is stuck and say 92hrs and is still rising. Something is wrong. I've heard it will mess the chip up if you take it out. ??? V
Are you using Safari?: I'm not a Mac expert but maybe you can take a look here:
