99 115 2 stroke first service in a loooong time.. what to check for?

purchased from father a couple months ago. i know the motor has not been serviced in propably 5 years. Motor runs great i've been using the boat regularly before i actually purchased it. The only issue it has is it hiccups everynow and then at idle and i ALWAYS need to give it at least 1/2 throttle on when cranking it up on the first try otherwise i have to choke and pump the ball. (this is on warm startups not cold)

So other than the basic things such as changing plugs, lower unit oil, and greasing things up, what should i have them check? I dont want to assume they will check the right things and find out they didn't.

Sounds like it could use a good carb cleaning, inspect the reeds while the carbs are off, new water pump, inspect the sinc and link (timing adjustments) and clean the fuel filter.

Make sure you get a quote on cost before turning them loos with your wallet open.

Don;t forget the fuel pump and plugs.

Buy a manual and do it your self if you are mechanically inclined. Otherwise, I would get a quote in writing and check there reputation
