    Spark plugs & fuel filter

I managed to remove the fuel filter assembly and found a brown/black grit and some larger debris. Any idea what it could be and if it would cause the motor to run like it's not getting enough gas?

When the plugs are removed, should they be completly dry. Mine look wet. Could this indicate a rich mixture due to the debris?

A dirty filter is never good but don't sweat it, a wet plug is most likely a fouled plug and the cause of the problem so replace them all.

You cant have a gas restriction at the filter that would cause too much fuel in the cylinder.

Is that the Racor filter? Or the filter under the hood? If you have a Racor installed (and you should...) then the filters under the hood generally stay clean. What motor is it? A new set of plugs never hurts, but you'll see some wetness on the plugs after idling for a while too.

Re: Spark plugs & fuel filter (Hamfisted)

It's the filter under the cowling. I have a 98 Vmax 150 and need to find out which Racor fits this motor. I think the best way to mount the filter would be to screw it into the stern. Any suggestions for screw length and adhesive?
