New Bass Boat Tech Dual HDS-12s and custom bow shroud bezel for HDS-8 on my 619

Well I've been working on a couple of little projects on my rig. I got in touch with Van from Bass Boat Technologies as soon as I saw that the dual mount was ready for our birds. He responded quickly, and I sent him a 10" shroud and a set of 3" gauges in hopes of getting the new mount back in time for the championship. He did not disappoint and was even able to get it all powdercoated black for me. This mount is bad @ss! It's extremely well thought out, super solid, great looking and DOES NOT obstruct your view (it actually eliminates the "blind spot" you get with a ram mounted unit next to your console). It even allows for minor adjustments to give you the ability to get it to sit perfectly level after re-installing the shroud. I couldn't be happier with the end result. Van is one heck of a guy offering one heck of a product and is a pleasure to work with. I can't thank you enough for all your hard work Van!!! Don't hesitate to grab one of his mounts, even if its a single unit version. IMO, there's nothing else out there that comes close in build quality and functionality.

While I was waiting for the mount I decided to fabricate a fiberglass flush mount bezel for the bow shroud of my rig using the same techniques I use to build custom car audio pieces. As we all know, Phoenix doesn't make a bow shroud for the 619/719 that will accept a HDS-8/9 or larger HB graphs (hint hint). The new bezel is attached to the original shroud using stainless screws from behind and has just over a 1/8" gap all around the unit to allow the cover to fit on nice and snug. It raises the HDS-8 a few inches, it's water proof and I wrapped it in matching marine grade vinyl to give it a "factory" look. This is just a quick build to get through the rest of the season and I plan on building an updated version to house another 10" up front. At the same time I also installed a Mercury level-2 "N2K" gateway, 4 port junction box, a TMC-1 choke and upgraded to the new Point-1 antennas (one on the bow and one on the rear). After the season is over, Bluewater LEDs and either PPs or Talons (jury is still out on which one) are on my list of possible projects. I'll post a few sets of pics. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Rise, the only thing that will make this rig any better would be to sell the 8 and upgrade to dual 10s on the bow :)

    Thanks haus,
I completely agree. Do you think dual 12s up front would be "too much"?

Nope, but you could fit another 12 on a ram off the side

Added some more LED's to the boat for a winter project. I put 6 LED strips on the deck. 4 in the front and 2 in the back. It was a pretty easy install once I decided to tackle it. Thanks to Ed Davis for the tips and words of encouragement.

Here are some new small things I did... Covered my trolling motor cables, hand made a mooring line and new trolling motor pull cord, and finally put this seasons mascot up there.

Well there are two options I just bought a rod sleeve in the color I liked then you can either unhook all the cabled and unscrew the wires in the foot control or what I did was unscrew the head pop the cables out and cut the wires slid it over and just put new waterproof heat shrink connectors back on the wires and then put the head back on and pinched the rod wrap around the rubber fitting so it made it nice and tight when the head screwed back on. The turtle, well I tapped into my child hood, used a zip tie, and super glued a Sai in each hand lol.
