    PROP HELP

I PUT A MERC TEMPEST ON MY 2006 150HP HAVEN'T RAN IT. I WANT TO KNOW DOES THE FRONT OF THE PROP RUN SHORT OF THE LOWER UNIT CASE? MY 225 MERC FITS INSIDE OF IT .MEANING THE HOUSING IN FRONT OF THE PROP.

Is it the right hub kit? Maybe thrust washer is wrong?

Hmmm....doesn't sound right, I think it should fit inside. How big is the gap you're talking about? Maybe check the orientation of the hub parts again. Maybe the thrust washer is on backwards??

hmmm... I don't know then. I just put a Trophy Plus on mine with the same hub kit. Mine was short too until I got it tight and it "pressed" the plastic sleeve in. Was the same with my Turbo TXP, but this can't be your problem because I'm sure you've cranked it down tight.

You might need prop advice. Go to the prop forum and ask them. Give the info you've stated here. There are guys there that know a lot more than I do but my guess is you need a prop with more pitch than you currently have. What is the pitch of your Tempest prop?

    Re: PROP HELP (fisherman2008)

If your engine is mounted in the top holes now, the only way you could lower it would be installing a jackplate. If you did that, you might have go through more prop testing to get it right.

I don't know what your engine should be spinning for max operating rpm's?? Do you have a manual for your engine? Does it say what the rpm should be?

    Re: PROP HELP (fisherman2008)

The right answer is probably out of my league. I'd go to the prop forum and ask Mike (21XD) and see what he says. Just tell them what boat, engine, prop you have and let them know your rpm and speed. I don't know enough about deck boats to even guess and don't want to steer you wrong.

    Re: PROP HELP (fisherman2008)

What model 150 Suzi? The bass 150 has 2.08 gears and with a 21P prop would put you at 6000 rpms at 54 mph at 10% slip.

Some of Suzi's 4 strokes gear ratio are even lower making some 150's need a 28+ pitch prop.

    If you have a DF150 has a 2.50 gear set http://www.suzukimarine.com/df175-150/features/

    A 21P prop should run 45 ish at 6000

    A 23P prop should run 50 ish at 6000

    A 25P prop should run 53 ish at 6000

    A 27P prop should run 58 ish at 6000

This is at 10% slip and 2.50 gears...

I'm not sure what that hull is capable of. You need to run large diameter props.

    Re: (fisherman2008)

You might try a 19-21P Mirage plus as well. Make sure you get one with the flo torq hub and RH rotation.
