    Gambler & Sterling's stats

    Gentlemen,
Please post your numbers with specifications:
Year, Model, Motor, Prop, JP, etc.

Inquiring mindless people (me) want to know.

The best couple runs I ever saw with Intimidator.
    '94 Intimidator IIB, '96 Mercury 200efi, 26p Trophy Plus, 6" Gambler Plate
5-6 gal of fuel, 2 fat boys, gear = 6,025 RPM on Bull Shoals in Jan 2012
35 gal of fuel, 2 guys, full tournament load = 5,900 on TRL in March 2012

28 Bravo 1, set at 4 on jackplate, full fuel, one livewell full I have hit 81 once. Typically will run 78-80 fully loaded. My 27 Hydro will run just as strong but has better holeshot and midrange.

    '02 Gambler 2200 with 250XB w/ 12" of set-back (7/8" Cowl Mod done)

    28 Bravo I: Stock with 4 PVS holes: Best: 81 GPS @ 6100 rpms. Avg:79-80
    * Slow Holeshot. Very Good mid-range acceleration. I am getting this prop B&B'd soon and adding 4 more PVS for good holeshot. **Prop is now Blue-printed, see below

    28 Bravo I by Mark Croxton: Best: 82 GPS @ 6100 Rpms (8/29/12) Avg: 80-82
8 PVS Holes=Very good holeshot. Very strong mid-range acceleration. The most impressive prop i have run. Period. Handling is insanely good at Wot. Have to run the Jackplate 1/2" higher than any other prop i run. I think 83 is possible in the fall temps coming.

    26 Tempest plus: Stock: Best: 82 GPS @ 6450 rpms. Avg:79-80
    * Holeshot is instant even without the tabs down. Good acceleration. Topend Handling isn't hateful but grip feels a little loose at the 80 mark (It is a fast prop). I won't be running this prop on here anymore as the RPM's are too high and the 28 Bravo is done.

26 Trophy plus: Stock: Best: 77 GPS @ 6450 rpms. No Good, I do not like this prop. This prop is in visually good condition but runs like a P.O.S. at WOT
    * Blows out on holeshot. Very good mid-range. Redlines the XB at 77 GPS. I may now send this prop to Robbie and have him pitch it to 27P. Then he can B&B it and add cup if he wants. I'd like to have a quality back-up to the Bravo.

New 27P Fury: Stock: Best 83 gps @ 6300 rpms. Very fast prop, but took forever to get there. I did not like how the prop felt on the 2200/250XB combo. It felt very loose in the rearend and not as solid as the 28 Bravo. Huge amount of lift...Too much actually. Holeshot was average. Good acceleration to 70 then slow to get to top end. Prop is Sold.

I think a thread like this would be very helpful to have stickied to the top of the Gambler page.

I will edit this post as i go, i have only had this boat out 4 times since i got her rigged and only have 5 hours of break in time on the engine.

    2007, 2200 w/ trim tabs
    2012, 250 H.P. Pro XS w/ Torque Master L.U.
    10" Bob's Hydraulic Jackplate w/ 2" spacers

As of 6-1-2012 i have only tried a 28p Bravo XS, good holeshot about 4 seconds, top speed 76 MPH at 5600-5700 RPM's loaded with 3/4 gas, there is more top end left just need to learn how to drive her and get the engine broke in.

As of 7-9-2012, i ran a 27p Trophy w/ weed ring, holeshot was pretty bad 7-8 seconds is the best i could get after playing with a bunch of PVS plugs, top end 74 MPH, mid range and handling was poor. Water temp 93 degrees, air temp 88 degrees.

Also ran a 28p Bravo 1 worked by Mark Croxton for a 2200w/dual pvs today by far the best prop i have run. Great holeshot 3-4 seconds, top end 78.8 MPH, mid range is excellent, and handling is the best of all the props i have tried so far.

2011 sterling 22..merc 250 xs..28 bravo xs..79.9 with 3/4 tank of fuel...and a BIG tourney load...just me in the boat...i was thinking my rig was slow...or my motor was kind of a sissy....then i remembered i am dragging 2 powerpoles around...which is good for slowing you down 1 or 2 mph...and my boxes are full to the top...along with over 30 rods and reels..and i am running 4 agm batteries that are around 75 each...i guess i aint doing too bad after all....

Is it normal to run up to 6200-6400 rpm WOT? I have been told i shouldnt take it into the 6000 rpm range. I have a 28 Bravo 1 and im hitting 76 at 5600. Feels like i have quite a bit more but afraid to push the rpm's . I have been running JP at 3 but im reading a few of you that run it at 4. I normally just leave JP alone and only work tabs and trim.

    95 Intimidator

    1995 Intimidator II
    2001 3.1 Hydrotec Yamaha 225
Titus Lower Unit w/1.75 gear ratio
    10" Bob's JP

    26 Tempest 80 @ 6400 rpm Rocketship
27 Tempest 82 @ 6200 rpm great hole shot and top end
    27 T-1 80 @ 6000 great all arond prop
    29 txp 83.66 @ 6200 w/terrible holeshot
    28 Bravo double holes 77 @ 6000 rpm Not what I expected
Going to try a 29 T-1 next week

This boat just doesn't like to go over 80 mph it is ussually like hitting a wall It ussually just stops gaining speed at 80 the 2 props that went over 80 only did it once and I could not repeat it again. The 27 tempest hit a rock that very day it ran 82 and after it was rebuilt it would only run 80. I just dont understand why it hits the wall there. Any suggestions out there would be appreciated. The TXP was a fluke I think and it had an unbearable holeshot.

This Motor on a Stroker would run 100+ I think. It has plenty of power.

2011 Sterling. 250SHO. 80 mph once, with 1/2 tank of gas, two guys, full rod boxes and tackle at 450 ft elevation. It won't do but 77 at OH Ivey elevation is 1300 ft.

    '08 2100DC
    '08 300XS w/ SM 1.62 gears
10" Bob's w/ Motor set on lowest holes or high as it can bolted to plate
28p Bravo 1 worked by Matt Lahti
Boat is an absolute blast to drive, instant hole shot, wicked acceleration, awesome handling. Top Speed well into the mid 90's on tournament blasts.

26p Trophy Plus w/ 2 holes plugged, WORTHLESS (came w/ boat.) With 3 holes plugged, sucks but atleast it will plane out. Anything over 70mph ridiculously unstable.
28p Bravo 1 John's Hot Props great fishing prop, does everything it's ask and begs for more.
27p Turbo TXP, EVEN MORE WORTHLESS (came w/ boat)
29p Croxton Razor 4, decent hole shot, to stiff to turn top end
26p Croxton Razor 4, dual PVS holes, rips the ears off.
27p Croxton Razor 4, 1" holes + PVS holes + tip cup, pulsates on hole shot, drives & runs out great.
27p Croxton Razor 4, dual PVS holes, good hole shot, pulls hard thru out RPM range. Run to 5500RPM at 85mph and still pulling hard when boat traffic got in my way.

All numbers are HOT Summer temps.

I run the same combo except for prop. I can run to 81.4 with a Bravo 1 28 and I've seen 84.5 with a 29 XS. Running that fast is like running a quarter mile. I couldn't run at that speed for any real length of time...too much going on. I only open it up when I'm alone. I'm sure I could mess with props and get more but at 80+ it feels like I'm gonna get airborne.

BigMess and TRS. Try to see if you can find a used Hydro in either the 27-28p. OB Model. You would have the best of both worlds being faster than the bravo and nearly the same great hole shot. Also look and see if you can have some minor sporty mods done to improve handling and running efficiency. Robbie Patterson at Sanderson Marine can do them for you! Excellent work! The only thing I can think of why you aren't going to see the big numbers on top end is because you are dragging the sporty and those boats need lift due to the ass weight it has!

27p Powertech TRO4 80.3 @ 6,000 (older prop that is bone stock and well ridden)
