Some of you already know my frustration with the lift pumps and you have asked if I was going to do this conversion. Here it is. I won’t have the results until tomorrow but I’m confident this will work just fine.
The Holley red pump puts out 5psi and 67gph. More then enough to support fuel delivery for any bass fishing motor. The pump arrived from JEGS with all the hardware and fittings just in time for this weekend project. Pump bracket was also included but I needed an addition 90 degree angle bracket for my application.

The relay is a typical 4 prong rated at 30A. This pump only draws 2A and is controlled by a yellow ignition wire that powers all key on functions on the ox66 motor. I taped into the brown wire in the bilge for the oil pump to activate the relay every time the key is turn on. Main power to relay comes directly from my cranking battery. Complete wiring instructions are included with this pump.
The kit to block off the holes in the block is nothing more then three aluminum plates that require 1in SS bolts from hardware store and original gaskets. My total expense for this conversion was $152.
Before I connected the hose to the VST I wanted to test and purge all the air out from the fuel line. It took maybe two seconds to get the air out and less then one minute for the pump to pull one gallon of gas into a gallon jug. I’m completely confident and satisfied so far but like I said, tomorrow is the final on the water test.
5-6-12 Update; motor ran great all day today.
