for those that use thread/braid to tie skirts

What are you using for our finishing knot? I usually use wire but, am curious how you finish your tie with thread?

I use another piece of thread to make a loop and wrap over it 5 to 7 times then put the thred you are wrapping with through the loop and pull the loop through. Its the same thing used to finish wrapping guides on rods.

Maybe this will help some watch toward the end when they finish the wrap.

use a whip finish tool. Search youtube for excellent videos of how to use it.

Three half-hitches and then coat the threads with clear fingernail polish. I've been doing this for 40 years and never had the thread come loose.

What size braid are you guys using to tie the skirts for your jigs? I usually use wire also. (plastic coated copper craft wire from Michaels works great. Never had one come loose either)

This works wonderfully and you dont have to use glue or a topcoat either....

I use regular fly tying thread...A size. Heck, you can use some of your wife's sewing thread if you want...just coat with clear nail polish and it will work

Some sewing thread is fun to use! Multi-colored embroidery thread etc.. but when using the afore mentioned finish technique, you will not need any finish or glue...
