2006 225 Optimax Need more hp

I have a 225 opti it has maybe 20hrs now on a factory replaced block.Motor runs stong,im just wanting a bit more.THis is a standard optimax with the 5750 limiter.

    My thoughts are:
Carbon fiber reeds(more for safety then performance)8
Some 3/8" holes in the air box.
Simon ECU as well as Flywheel,im not sure if that is a different program on this motor or simply a raised limiter.Im hopeing the program is changed,so there is more actual hp.
Ive replaced all fuel lines with new eythonal freindly lines.
Im not sure what other options are,Im used to running 2.5's.Thes DFI motors are all new to me.The motor pushes my 22' Velocity to 70.3 with 25p trophy at 5750 on the limiter.I Have maybe a couple more mph left in with getting the getting teh right prop.I just would like to get this closer to a 250.
    Any ideas?

Eric would be a good person to talk with on this.

Keep in mind, that modifying these engines (anything that alters it's emissions footprint) is technically illegal.

I personally would recommend AGAINST carbon fiber reeds.... and I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend drilling holes in the airbox.

You will probably want to consider a prop that's more suitable for your hull.... the Trophy is probably NOT a good choice for that particular boat.

I wonder why you recommend against carbon fiber reeds?

Just buy a 250 or 300 and save yourself the pain.

    ^^^^ This.

You're probably not going to find anyone providing modifications for the PCM anymore.

And this engine is best suited by an Epoxy-Fiber (TDR) reed set. See Rhonda's post (pinned at the top of the Forum) if you need some.
