If Alligators can live in a pond in the marsh then bass should be able to live in there also correct? Just trying to figure out if worth my time doing a little bass fishing at Paw in laws camp in Dulac next weekend...

alligators have lungs, fish have gills. I don't see how saltwater or brackish water would effect a gator. I doubt there is enough food for a freshwater gator to suit his diet in salty areas. We've caught bass with stingrays swimming by. Our marsh bass love eating crabs and pogeys and especially shrimp.
+1
they hang out at Cypremort Point looking for waste food

a true american alligator (Alligator mississippiensis), is a freshwater animal, and can be found living in brackish water. Alligators can be found in salt water, but only for short periods of time. Alligator mississippiensis lack glands in their mouths that expel salt from their systems. Alligators that are seen in brackish water do need to seek fresh water on a regular basis to get the salt out of their system.
These gators are living in this pond so it has to be fresh enough for them
