Sounds like a typical insurance company , say one thing and do another.

It may not be the insurance company, it could be that the hospital/Dr. did not file all your claims yet. It happened to me with my son. Had to pay almost 5k up front for a surgery and had already met my deductible. The previous charges were not approved by the insurance co yet and the hospital was behind on filing some of the new charges. Took me 8 months and a lot of phone calls to get MOST of the 5k back, you know they are gonna screw you out of some of it. I'll second it"DAMN INSURANCE" If I didn't need it I would sell my company and live on the water somewhere(close to hunting,, and shopping for the wife)

Also something else to watch for. If your doctor or hospital is out of network they can charge you the non discounted fees, not the negotiated insurance fees. That also applys to any place test are taken that your dr sends you to. So even if your doctor or hospital is covereed, the place you get test done may not be in network. You now have to evencheck that out.
