Remove the propeller and the hub (or thrust washer).... it's located in the bottom of the bearing carrier (behind them).

Re: where is oil fill and drain plug on 250 Proxs (badasscat)

Mercury or Quicksilver HIGH PERFORMANCE GEAR LUBE is the recommended lube.

Remove prop, thrust washer and drain plug (engine trimmed "down").

    Remove upper "vent" plug.

Once COMPLETELY drained, fill from lower plug opening with suitable "pump". Continue filling until fluid level JUST REACHES the upper "vent" opening (DO NOT OVERFILL til it's spewing out). Allow excess to spill out of vent.

Reinstall upper vent screw and sealing washer.

Remove pump from lower "fill" opening... allow approximately 1-2 ounces to spill out (take your time getting the screw and sealing washer into place).

IMPORTANT NOTE: 1-2 ounce comment above is for ORIGINAL TORQUEMASTER and/or Sportmaster model gearcases ONLY.

Standard, Servicemaster, Verado-Style or Wingmaster gearcases should be filled "to the bottom of the vent plug" and kept AT THAT LEVEL.

    Tighten drain/fill screw securely.

    Reinstall thrust washer and propeller.

    Capacity:
Torquemaster Gearcase (cast-in torque tab on starboard side of skeg): 27-28 ounces.

Verado Style Case (no cast-in torque tab): 30-33 ounces.

Pump kits (with the correct threaded fitting) are available through your Local (Authorized) Mercury Dealer.

I did my Gen 1 Torquemaster yesterday, piece of cake, except for the tubing coming off the pump! Let it be said that the 90 weight lube was quite refreshing to the skin on my thigh!

No. You fill it till fluid comes out of the vent hole.

Specifically the correct level for the Gen-2 TM is to fill the gearcase to the BOTTOM of the vent hole (not spewing out).
