Lowrance Structure Scan Suit

"The parent company of Humminbird electronic has filed suit claiming competitor Lowrance infringed on the company’s patent for side-scan technology".
The article goes on to say that Lowrance will continue to sell and support their product bla.bla.bla,

Anybody have any information on this? I am in the process of buying the LSS-1 StructrueScan Imaging System, and would like to know something before I spend that kind of money only to have it taken away!!! Thanks for you input!!

Usually in these infringement suits, the company being sued by the company with the patent must prove that their technology is very different. After viewing all the evidence presented, the court will make a decision. The worst for Lowrance if they are found that they infringed is to stop making that unit, or pay Hummingbird a fee per unit as a license fee to Hummingbird. ( Could also be monitary fines if it is proved Lowrance just out-right copied the technology).
