85 Evinrude v4 90hp has water in the foot and water leaking from bolts on head?

I checked the oil in my lower unit this weekend after getting back from the lake and it was the milky creamy stuff, I just had the lower serviced back in September and it was fine. I assume it's just the seals need replaced since it's a 26 year old motor and I have no idea when or if it's ever had them done. The thing that really scares me is I noticed water leaking from the bottom of the couling, not much but a constants drip. I took it off and watched the motor while it was running and notices water seeping out around the bolts on the plate between the heads as circled in the picture. It's got a lot of pressure on the pee stream and it's not overheating, any ideas?

LU serviced in Sept and leaking in H20? What kind of service did they perform? Change just the fluid? Try torquing down the water jacket bolts and see if that stops the leak, if not then replace both gaskets and seal with sealer. Re-torque to spec.

mine were leaking there as well. pulled the cover off, replaced the gasket and sealed with sealer and its good to go. I would also check to verify its coming from there and not the water jacket plates.

I wiped it dry and turned the motor back on and watched it seep from the bolts circled in the picture, there's no doubt where its coming from.

You might want to check for fishing line wrapped around the propshaft at the seal area, if nothing found, you will need to do a pressure and vacuum test to find out for sure where the leak is coming from. This is no big deal, but, the lower unit does have to come off and water pump removed.

Sounds like my boat has a date with the shop.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Had same problem, was able to tighten bolts on water, when I got home ordered new gaskets and sealer very easy fix, would not take to shop for that! Good luck
