Going to Lake cumberland any tips

Going down to Wolf Creek on Lake Cumberland for the weekend, never fished there before.

looking for Smallies, LM and Stripers.

I really would like to get into some stripers, anyone got any tips on stuff that is working? I have fished for white bass on other lakes but never stripers.

    Thanks for any tips.

Memorial day weekend will be busy. Had a big azz cruiser run between me and the bank down there last memorial day weekend.

When all else fails for me on that lake I can always pick up some fish on a shaky head. Hell sometimes I throw it the majority of the day down there. I would try fishing into the evening/night right now too. Wouldn't be suprised if you got some topwater action. Don't know much about the stripers.

It should be some good fishing being busy or not,,but if you want to get away from the busy stuff and get into some stripers you might want to look up a guide and fish the cumberland river near burkesville for some good fishing,Not sure on the water level but id be willing to bet they are pulling some hawgs out of there. As for the lake i can't say much as i haven't fished it this year other then off the back of the houseboat

Try main lake transitions from flat areas to deep. Should be a few schoolers in the morning on main tributary points and secondary points. Dont leave home without some 5" Basstrix & 3/8 oz. jig heads. Color isn't too important.

So, I went down last weekend and didn't do the greatest. But I did take out a guy that was new to bass fishing and he cought his first bass (a 12" KY).

Drew, I did try some Striper fishing up close to the mouth of Wolf and didn't have any luck. Although I couldn't find those heads that you recommended in any of the local places I stopped at.

Oh well its always fun to be on the water.

    Have a good one

Stop at Pro Bass on Hwy 90 in Burnside on your way down. They have about anything you want or need. Fishing is kind of tough right now but most fish are being caught at or after dark on soft plastics and jig & pig methods.

As for the stripers go with a guide if you want to fish with live bait or fish bluffs after midnight with a jointed red fin. At least that is what I have heard is working from my striper fishing friends.
