Why is Rusty deleting my post that shows the truth.

I posted this in the Pennzoil vs. XD-100 and Rusty keeps deleting it and now it is locked.

This is everyones right to know.

The XD-100 is made by Infineum USA in Linden NJ.

The XD-50 is made by Citgo Petroleum as is Superguard, Mystik, Yamalube, and many other Evinrude products. I would not be surprised if the XD-100 is not also made by Citgo by now as my MSDS is a couple of years old. Citgo does make quality lubricants.

As an oil dealer I keep this kind of information handy for reference.

This information is available to all by asking for a MSDS from your dealer. Any HONEST dealer will be happy to provide you with one.

Honesty also comes into play when a dealer tells you that your warranty will be void if you do not use their oil. If this happens you should be ready to ask them if they will GIVE you the oil in gallons or drums because that is what they will be required to do per the Magnuson-Moss Act.

Re: Why is Rusty deleting my post that shows the truth. (o2man98)

Infineum is an additive/chemical company that puts together additive packages and proprietary packages, they do not manufacture the oil formulas. They do work with manufacturers to come up with specific formulas.

Citgo base oils are used by a lot of manufacturers, and no one company uses the same mixture of base oils.

Outboard companies ( the big 3, anyway) have bottlers/blenders mix the base oils with their proprietary additive packages, then bottle the oil for distribution. One oil company does not make the complete lubricants for manufactures.

NMMA certifications do not allow different companies to have the same formulas for TC-W3 oils. So Citgo, Shell, Castrol, etc. do not have the same oil as the manufacturers do.

Several years back, Bass and Walleye Boats magazine did a story to see if oils were the same and they lab tested a bunch. Each company's oil was completely different.

AS I told you this morning at 1 am, your information is incorrect and that is why your post was deleted, we try very hard to make sure the information posted here is correct, as you can see now.......Seahorse has posted the TRUTH.

I dont know all the details and it does not matter...I paid a chunk of change for my etec225HO, Whatever BRP wants/tells me to run I am going to run it. I figure the couple hundred engineers they employee and the bazillion R&D hours they have invested, well, they know what my motor needs far more than I ever will.

    Why take the chance????

Could be that it's not the whole truth, or maybe nobody has tried to post the top secret 300ho etec pictures lately to delete and he needs to keep the rust off his deleted by RUST63 button

In all seriousness, if you have a company make a propriety (spelling?) product for you, they can not legally sell that product under their or anybody else's name.

Just try to buy a Harley drive belt from some one besides Harley. I buy belts from that manufacturer all the time, but I can't buy that pitch or length toothed belt from them. Because of their contract with Harley.

No where here do I state that all the above oils are the same. I know that each different oil is comprised of different add packs and such. I also know that my MSDS do state that these oils are made by the company listed. The XD-100 was most likely initially developed by Infineum due to their expertise and as I stated I would not be surprised if it is now produced by Citgo like the other Evinrude oil.

My MSDS binder may need to be updated so if you dealer folk would check your current ones for differences and get back to me on what you find I would appreciate it.

Also if necessary I can post links to scans of the sheets if you are that sure my info is wrong. Or Rusty can do this for all of us.

    Ken

One more thing Rusty, you never stated why you deleted the posts last night and by 1am I was sleeping. All that was posted was "I hate when that happens".

Ok maybe I missed something somewhere but who care who makes it??! I don't care if Betty Crocker made it herself or if Santa all his elves do this for a summer job! Whats your point? That is what is asked by the manufacture to run in your motor...you want to do it fine if not then run something else. Like the rest of the other guys said...when you shell out that kind of coin for a new engine and they say run this oil...I'll run that oil!

If its is made in NJ then why is there a shortage of it. In a bulliten sent to dealer's the XD100 is produced where the storm struck and they do not know when it will be back up.

Re: Why is Rusty deleting my post that shows the truth. (johnrude)

This is a Johnson-Evinrude forum, what we promote here are BRP products.

I am trying to not be Rude but as I explained this morning in the Instant Message I sent you......your information is incorrect, while I am sure the company you rep oil for makes a good product I don't believe any motor company would state to use another oil or any after market oils.

I know that BRP strongly suggests you run their oil but they do not say you have to, as someone has posted, why would you spend thousands of dollars on a motor and try to save a couple of dollars on oil?
