Going to Memphis for vacation the end of June. Wife and teenage son and daughter. Any suggestions for things to see and do, and most importantly, Fishing for dad . Any lakes near there and any ramp info would be great.
Thanks.
Rob

I don't know any lakes around there...but if you don't eat BBQ when your in Memphis you should be shot! Also, go down to Beale St. and hear some blues.
You'd be around 2 hours away from Pickwick, probably 2 or so from Reelfoot Lake. I'm not a big fan of memphis, even though I'm only about an hour away. You've got Graceland, Beale Street, Memphis Redbirds (AAA Baseball), Tunica Mississippi (casinos) is about an hour away. Let me know if there is any other info you might need. carl
Your not that far from Stardus are you from Memphis?
Have only driven through Memphis. Not real familiar with the area. Wife wants to see Graceland and the kids want to be occupied. I want to spend time with them and hopefully get some fishing in.
You need to tell em its a road trip. Make a stop at Somerset, let them do some sight seeing, fish C-land, then head down around Albany, let them sight see I dont know what but let them see, fish the Hollar... You getting my hints
Never been to Memphis, but I am sure there is plenty there to see and do. Hope you and the family have a great time.. My vacation this summer for the year is surgery so Memphis sounds good to me
Just be sure to carry your handgun! Memphis has one of the highest crime, violent and nonviolent, in the country. Can be a very rough place. My wife works in Memphis and I go on a regular basis. That is the one city I refuse to go without my gun.
As far as places to go for family fun, I can only think of a few that are free or cheap. Go see the Peabody Hotel ducks, they are neat. And maybe take a trolley ride downtown. And you might check out Wolf River Nature Area, if you are interested in that kindof thing.
Cowboy,
My .45 is my American Express, I don't leave home without it .
I've heard about them ducks, is it duck season? The kids would get a kick out of that though, Do you know of any of the blues places that the kids could go to? They are into the music more than anything, The nature preserve sounds good too.
Thanks,
Rob
Rob,
Your Amex should do nicely...... As far as places for your teens to go for music, I am not sure. There are alot of places downtown on Beale, but don't know if they can get into any. They have a Hard Rock downtown that they could go to for sure, and they may let them into BB Kings because it is a resturant also. Both will have live music. The Memphis Music Museum is also on Beale. I will ask my wife to ask some of her friends at work if they can recommend some places and other things to do or see. I will get back with you in a day or two about that.
Oh, and I would just carry a duck call to the Peabody and see what happens.
Thanks cowboy,
I'll keep an eye out
