Have a tach that is all over the board. Seems to work ok at idle but when up on plane it jumps all over the place or just sits at 0 with no reading at all. It is FLP175SSV model ficht. Regulator rectifier?

The 1st thing I would do is rotate the dial on the back of the tach a few times to see if any corrosion has built up. Place the selector back in the same position. If that doesn't fix it, then probably the rectifier.
To our troops
I just got lucky, my jumpy tach was bad tach. I probably will not mess it no more. Fished tournies and crap since 1974 we didn't have tachs, everything fine for years! If motor electrically stops the tach will not get you back to the ramp anyway. we got pulled in by someone like today you will get pulled in.
lot of kidding here as well. Tachs are nice in a way, and Ill probably replace mine.
Lot of talk of jumpy tachs on websites, i think a lot of the time the problem is the tach.
