    SKEETER TRAILER BRAKES

I have a new single axle trailer furnished by Skeeter. The problem is the brakes lock up when backing up empty or with boat on trailer, even on level ground. They work fine otherwise. I have had several similar trailers but never one that you couldn't back on a level surface without activating. Isn't there some sort of spring or resistance built into the system? I have the little doo dad that you put into the slide area that keeps it from locking while backing up under load but have never had to use it when just backing out of a packing place at the ramp. Any and all input appreciated.

Are you disconnecting your lights when you launch?

Check your back up light brake fuse in your truck. On my Tahoe that was the problem I had when backing my Skeeter.

If they have worked previously and wiring isn't the problem, make sure your trailer plug has a good connection. I have the 6pin round outlet on my truck and run an adapter to a 5pin flat on the trailer. Mine stopped working just the other day and I had to compress the center of the round plug (on the truck)so that it would make a good connection with the plug from the trailer. On my setup, the center pin is the backup/lockout power source.
