We would need to know what you are towing(weight) distance, terrain and number of people.

Re: What do you tow with (Hawkeye)

If you are just asking what will tow the best then it's gonna be one of the 3/4 ton pickups with a diesel.

I just bought a Ford F150 FX4 yesterday. Have not had a chance to hook the boat up to it yet but I guarntee it is not going to be a problem. I drove two Z71s before I drove the Ford and there was no comparison. This Ford has a lot more power right off the jump than either of the Chevys and one had a .410 rearend.

Come to think of it I think I'll go out and hook it to the boat right now and just take it for a drive. Also need to get a few photos with both of them just so I can show off.

Re: What do you tow with (Bass Junkie)

I had a 95 Z-71 and put about 200,000 miles on it without any problems. Decided to buy a new truck and went back to a Z-71 cause I don't want to worry about being able to get off a steep or slick boat ramp. i haven't had it very long but the few times I have pulled the boat it did great. It really wasn't noticable the boat was even back there.

I tow with a 2005 Expedition and love it! It is great to be able to keep your gear in the car locked up when needed, keep it dry, and if needed take the entire family out to dinner. Mine is a 4x4, I had a 4x2 that when I bought it said "I'll never use 4x4"...Well, I needed it enough times to warrant selling the 03 4x2 and getting the 05 4x4. When we were at Winter Haven yesterday, one of my buds pulled me out of the water. First time he'd been in my Expy. Once he parked the rig, he came back and asked if it was in 4x4. I told him it wasn't, he stated "It pulled the boat out so easy I thought it was in 4 low." The digital throttle takes a little to get used to, it just has a little dead zone right as you touch the pedal. Now that I am used to it I get in customers cars with a traditional throttle cable and they feel "touchy" to me. I consitently get 14-14.5 mpg city without the boat, 12.5-13mpg city towing, and have made one trip with it. Had 8 adults in it (if you count tiny little me as an adult ) and got 17.5 going to Jetty Park for dinner. If I had to do it again, I'd buy another Expy!

96 Dodge 2500 Ext. Cab. 8' bed, Cummings diesel, with auto trans, 115,000 miles averages 18 miles/gal. I was thinking of replacing mine as well and when I saw the price of new one over 40 grand to get what I now have, so guess I will keep what I got. Gust had to post this in the middle of all these Ford and Chevy Ppl :))

Just go buy a GM product and you dont have a haggle with a sales person, everyone pays the same thing right now with the employee pricing still going on, but you better hurry not much inventory left. The best deal out there is a 2500 duramax as far as amount off sticker, but good luck finding one!!

Right now I tow with a 2003 Ford Supercab FX4 Off Road. It pull's very good. My next one will be either an Expidition or Yukon. I think for pulling a bassboat most 1/2 ton PU's will work just fine.

I tow my Reata with a 2004 Nissan Titan 4x4. It is absolutely the best towing rig I have ever owned.

Re: What do you tow with (SPINRBAIT)

    I tow with a '05 F150, pulls my 18 1/2' Skeeter like a charm!

Dont let sticker shock bother you, right now you should be able to get a new truck for 8-10K off what the sticker says. I bought mine back in March before all the Employee pricing started and I got mine for over 6K of the sticker and mines just a 2wd reg cab, I know guys thats gotten closer to 10K off for 4X4 supercrews. Be sure to look at the new Fords, you wont be disappointed.

01 Dakota Sport 4.7L. I wasn't sure if it would tow a 20' Javelin but when I picked it up in Detroit and started my 12 hour trek back I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did. Lots of grunt in those Dodges. Got 16 mpg with the boat on the back too which isn't too bad.

Re: What do you tow with (LAChamp)

I have a 98 ford f-250 5.4 4X4. bought new and has been a great truck. it is also a little rare because 97 and 98 were the only years they produced this style in an f-250 package. this was before the super duty's hit. it is the perfect truck in my opinion if you dont want to go diesel, but still want a little more heavy duty. You can still find great deals on these year trucks, saw two on ebay last week, one with only 55K on it. and the prices are not bad because of the year.
