What an absolutely perfect day this was for fishing! The weather was incredible today, and I didn't even get the chance to go.
Oh, well. It was also a good morning to be in the deer woods with my favorite hunting partner.
This was opening day of Mississippi's week-long youth season, and at 0710, my 13-yr old got a 33-yd shot at the critter below...
Even though it was considered a "cull" buck on a place that I manage/hunt here in the Delta, I don't think it mattered a whit to Bryce. Since inheriting his grandpa's "coyote" rifle, he's shot it 4 times and as a result, 4 deer have been hoisted on the meat pole.
The buck was a 220# 4-yr old, with 20"+ beams, 4"+ bases and just over 14" inside.
Again, I hate it that we didn't get on the water today (going tomorrow), but I'll gladly trade a few missed fishing trips for a day like I had today anytime.
