    Chine Walk Video

Take a look at this clip; it gives a very good illustration of Chine Walk...

    Re: Chine Walk Video (Rudeman)

    Thanks for the video!

Scary but instructive -it is nice to see it without actually experiencing it for the first time.

    Thanks Again!

I've experienced chine walking a few times in our boat, but never been behind the wheel when its happened. Can someone explain how this happens? And, do I understand correctly - if your boat starts chine walking to get out of it, you quickly turn the wheel into the chine?

What is the end result of uncorrected and increasing severity of chin walking?

Sort of. The pad is in the shape of a triangle. When it is running correctly, you have to balance it on the triangle..if you don't..it walks..

Drove my new Basscat for the first time today and experienced chine walk for the first time. Its going to take some time for me to get to the comfort level of that video.

They say a Skeeter won't chine walk,,,, my FX will above 73-74 mph, you have to drive it like that. Still playing with props and the Atlas to get everything dialed in.

SkeeterBob, what dot do you have the jackplate set on? I have mine on the 8th dot and it runs fine to about76 with no chine at all..thinking bout lowering to the 7th dot to see if it will come out of the water a bit more..James Clark

Ive never had a boat chine walk.......... Until I got the Stratos 282 I have now.
While running it the first time all was great till it hit 60, I experenced chine walk for the first time and it scared the crap out of me! I thought I was going to flip the boat sideways.
I backed off ran it back up and at 59 it was fine, I hit 60 again and all hell broke loose!! The bad part is I can tell the boat has quite a bit more till topped out.
I'm going to put a jackplate on and play around with the setup some as well as try to learn to drive out of it instead of chickening out and backing off.
    Thanks for the video!

I had to battle my chine walking Nitro this year. I beat it and got A LOT of help here.

    Things I learned:

Do NOT throttle back aggressively, when the boat starts to walk.
DO trim down when it starts to walk and ease back on the throttle.
Level your boat as much as possible. I had to move my cranking battery (Sears PM1) to the left side.
It just takes practice and seat time, you will get it.

Here is a thread I started when I was dealing with it. You can read all the advice - it is good stuff. Also, the video posted by "alexprime" helped me a lot more than the Triton guy. http://www.bbcboards.net/bass-boat-s...questions.html

I have always been able to eliminate this situation by raising the engine hight and making sure the steering is tight (No slop).

This is a great link as well, thanks for adding it. (BTW, if you add a "http://www." in front of what you posted, it will automatically link people there when they click on it...)

I know this is an old post but I thought it might be worth a try. I am desperately trying to locate the original full length version of this video, before the editing and music were added. I saw it about two years ago and saved it in my bookmarks but had a computer crash on me and I lost my bookmarks.

If anyone has any idea where this video originated I would be greatly indebted and appreciative for any and all help in finding it.
