I applied for CRSC and was denied, they said my records did not tie my injuries to Bosnia. I was told I know have to find a doctor to review my records and he can write a letter stating that he feels my injuries occured in Bosnia and I will receive CRSC. Where do I start? Anyone know a GOOD Doctor?

Re: Anyone need help with a VA Claim??????? (LupieBasser)

    Mariann,
Is there a way I can contact you. I will be dealing with WOMACK here shortly. I have an injury that I think they might start looking at putting me out. I am seeking as much advice as I can get right now. I just had my 4th surgery done by a civilian Dr while I was home for the holidays. I refuse to allow the military to do another one. My unit filed the paperwork at the hospital yesterday for the convalesant leave and I received a call today from a case mgr (never had one of those) letting me know the leave was apporoved. But I was also informed that the new ortho specialist wants me to come to WOMACK next week for an evaluation. I don't like the sound of that, especially since this surgery was not to fix the problem but to start a correction of an issue that arose from the 2nd surgery last December. Not wanting to assume anything until I get back there and see what this Doctors intentions might be. But I know I will have an issue at some point towards the end of this year when I start looking to get out. Anyway to touch base with you off line without having to post a long drawn out explanation?

    Thanks,

    Re: (Legend_Master)

THis is a great thread guys. I got out after 9 years active in the Army (4 years in Airborne Arty and 5 years as a Nurse) and recently finally got around to filing my claim. 3 weeks after I filed my claim I got a THICK packet of info along witha request for more info. When I originally filed, I went to the Baltimore VA, with most of my medical records, and the Benefits Rep said they would take care of getting all my records. About a week later, they sent me a listing of appts. the Regional office made for me. My list of claims is very long to say the least. I am going to take in copies of all my records when I go in for my first appt. on the 30th and see if I can continue to chase down the rest. Is it normal for THE VA to make appointments for you beore they even approve your claim? Any info or help would be great. I don't have a lot of free time to check here, so if you could e-mail me I would appriciate it. My e-mail is askibum02 [at] comcast [dot] net. Thanks!!

All Vets are advised to go to http://www.hadit.com/forums to see the latest assistance the site offers for Veterans claim help.

I went from 10 to 70 percent last year because of the site.

Hypertension is a rateable secondary condition to Diabetes. Especially if Diabetes is AO related. ALso the CAD is also connectable to the Hypertension. Here is a link to the directives the VA uses for conditions.

Just copy it ands paste it into your browser. Scroll down to Cardiovascular and read away.

Re: Anyone need help with a VA Claim??????? (deadringer6)

While my post is not specifically VA related it is about the DD-214.

IF you lose your copy 4 of your DD-214 it is the ONLY original and you will be screwed six ways from sunday if you go about trying to get a replacement if it is lost or destroyed.

You can however do something to make your military career efforts worthwhile and secure. Get 6 to 10 certified copies of your copy 4(will have your SPN and RE codes at the bottom of it), notarized and sealed and store them in a safe, distribute them to relatives or friends that you trust, put one in a safe deposit box if you have one, and keep one handy where you can get at quickly at home. Additionally, if you have adult children who might be beneficiaries to your estate, make sure that they have one also so that when it comes time for burial they will have source documentation for hadling affairs with the VA and receipt of benefits.

Save yourselves much heartache, much frustration with bureacratic procedures and headaches.

Additionally the SPN codes and RE codes on your copy four, tell employers (and so many others) much about your military career. It is in your best interests to save the following links for reference or print a hardcopy of the codes and keep them safe for reference.

    http://usmilitary.about.com/od...u.htm

    http://usmilitary.about.com/od...1.htm

And this is the key one......

Discussion surrounding these codes and who uses them BESIDES employers (Banks and lending institutions......)

    I agree200% with JBasser.

Check out http://www.hadit.com I went there a couple years ago and still go back to help othes. I went from 30% to 70% to 100%. It's hard battling the VA but there is help out there. I don't mind helping others as well.

    Re: I agree200% with JBasser. (10thFO)

I finally got my VA claim back, and was rated at 40% disabled. I was surprised to get that much, I expected to have to fight the VA. There are a couple of things, they denied, that are definately from service. Will I be able to resubmit a claim as time goes on? One of the things they paid on is for tinnitus, due to prolonged noise exposure, (artillery x 4 years) but denied my hearing loss. It doesn't make sense.

BTW-Thanks for this thread, I would have had no idea to mention my tinnitus if I hadn't read it here.

I have a sister who just got meded out from the Army, single mom 3 kids. They gave her 20% and told her to "get the rest from VA". I am prior Air Force and I know she needs help getting the additional disability from VA. She has been told she will be wheelchair bound in 10yrs or less. So if you could help her I would appreciate it. Just let me know how get you 2 together. Thanks Kandie

Re: Anyone need help with a VA Claim??????? (Kandie)

She needs to go to her local VA Officer and let him apply to the VA for her. The 20 percent she receives is from the army and normally the VA will increase her percentage plus it will be tax free.

Re: Anyone need help with a VA Claim??????? (deadringer6)

I was one of the AF's most recent cutbacks. I filed for disability and finally after several months got the result. I filed because about three years into my enlistment I began getting migraines. Not one a month, but one or more a week. Since then it has slowly progressed to where I get a headache AT LEAST once a day and I can count on one of those being a migraine that lasts for 2 or more days. I know this is service related because I never had a problem before the AF put me in a career field that forces me to sit behind a PC all day. My headaches are getting to the point where I have to take days off work. It's only a matter of time before my employer has had enough.
Anyway, the VA approved 10%. Is this about typical or should I have been able to get more? I have heard stories of friends of friends that got XXX% due to headaches.

    Any thoughts?

Re: Anyone need help with a VA Claim??????? (Laydog)

Being truthful I don't know how to answer you. I see men with more severe problems getting nothing because they can't prove they were at a certain place at a certain time or other issues. I guess you should consider yourself one of the lucky ones to get 10 percent for headachs and don't get me wrong I'm not trying to belittle you in any way, It's just thatmost of the men I know that are service conected for headach are missing part of theirs or severe PTSD which is one of the most severe injuries of all wars .

I guess I would keep going to the VA Dr's and try to find the problem. Maybe they can find out what's causing it and treat it also you can always appeal for a higher rating,
the VA won't take away your 10 percent for doing that. Good Luck

Re: Anyone need help with a VA Claim??????? (jfelice13)

Want to say thanks to all the service personal past and present for what they have done to make the world a better place.
I filed my claims with the VA when I got out in 98. Filed on mutiple things and they I handed up getting 10% for one (Head Injury), 0% for another and completely denied on a wrist injury claim. To be honest I really though that the wrist was the only one I would get credit for, but we all know how the VA works. Well being young and clueless I never tried to fight it and took what they gave me. Anyways here we are almost 10 years latter and thing are slowly geting worse for both the head injury and the wrist. I contacted my local County VA rep and refiled for an increase on the existing one's and new on the wrist, that was in July of 07.
Only thing I have heard was that recieved my package and nothing since! I think it is way past time for the VA and Congress and take care of the men and women who protect them. Is all I constantly hear or read about is how far back logged they are. I do realize that my claims are minor to most of you and the young guys coming back from Iraq. I am thankful that at least I am already in the system, but for those of you that are in immediate need this is craxy to have to wait so long.

    Re: (vnvjames)

I retired from the Army in 2004, with numerous combat related health problems, PTSD being one of them. An old VET told me to make certified copies of everything in my Medical Records before they were sent off to VA. I am glad I did. The records that went to VA did not have anything in my records about PTSD, even though I am on medication for it. I re-submitted my copy of my records to VA and I am getting 50% Disability. These so called "doctors" are nothing more than hired contractors. I currently have another claim in for De-generative Disk Disease related to combat and when I went to the VA Hospital here in Kentucky, the exam took 20 minutes. The "doctor" did not want to see 15 sets of X-rays I had nor wanted to see the CAT Scan or MRI results. Of course VA denied the claim but I submitted a letter of Disagreement stating I have proof of my condition. I have not heard nothing yet. Look at the medical treatment our VETS are receiving at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, makes you wonder why we put our lives on the line and only want is rightfully ours, free dedicated Medical Care and recognition. We have men & women dying overseas, why, so some unpatriotic SOB can live their lifestyle and not give a Damn about what it means to live in this country where everyone has rights. Hell, if they do not like living in this country, move them out to Iraq, Afghanistan or some third world country where they do not have a Wal-Mart.http://www.bbcboards.net/zeropost?cmd=reply&id=136681#
