    Doug,
Some of these maps have white circles or egg shapes on them. What do these represent?

Well I must report that I think that my 898 C SI is not reading the shallow water depths properly. I compared the readings on my two humminbird units and they didn't agree. I trust the shallow water readings on my Humminbird LCR 8000 unit and when it was reading 9 ft deep the 898 C Si was reading 18 ft deep. Twice what it should have been.

This may be why I was thinking that my lake master map was way off on it's depth contour lines. I was comparing the 898 C SI depth readings against the Lake Master Map Contour Lines and they were not matching up in some shallow water areas that I like to fish a lot. It may not be the map that's off but the shallow water reading of the 898C SI unit instead.

I'll have to do some more testing after I update the 898 C SI firmware to the latest version over the next few days.

Are you running the LCR 8000 and 898c at the same time? Might be cross talk. What is the display showing 18' or double bottom? IS the Graph image the same depth as depth reading?

Yes and yes to the last two questions. I don't see any signs of double talk. But that's possible. But remember that this only happened in the shallow water. I check again and see what's going on. I did check the one area that I was talking about in earlier posts and back then I was only running the 898 C SI unit. I'm not really sure what's going on yet. I just didn't think about this happening when I was out on the water. I figured this out after I got home. So I'll have to double check it next time I'm out again. I normally only use on of those units at a time. But I was with someone the last time out and we were fishing differently. Thus I had both using running at the same time. Boat is only 16 ft long and each transducer is at the other end of the boat. ie One at the bow on the trolling motor and the other on the transom at the rear of the boat. Boat is an aluminum flat bottom type. So sound waves could bounce off the bottom of the boat and back down to the hard bottom again. I've seen that happen on my older flasher units when I turned the gain way up in shallow waters. I use to use that method to detect harder bottom from softer bottom.

Are you using Switchfire Clear Mode in Shallow Water? That's the best because it automatically adjust the power to depth. Max mode does not adjust the power of the unit.

    They Should of Had LakeMaster!

Table Rock Lake in Missouri has Low Water Levels currently due to drought and preparing for winter pool.... One of the Greatest Features of LakeMaster is you can adjust Water Level to the Current Conditions so the Mapping Depth Numbers Match the Depth Readings and you can see where thr Ends and the Water Begins...

    With NO Water Level Offset:

Easy to Adjust in the Chart Menu:

With Water Level Offest Adjusted....See the old Bank Line versus the New?

Here's some Examples of Table Rock Lake LakeMaster Mapping

More Features...More Details... LakeMaster the Superior Choice in Mapping!

    Clear Mode vs Max mode

    Doug:
I was probably using Max mode. I forgot or didn't know that clear mode adjusted the power or the filter to match the depth. I forget a lot of what I read after a while. I did read the manual when I got my unit but like I say with time I forget stuff. That's probably what happened.

Anyway I finally downloaded and installed the new Firmware. But I didn't get the boat out this past weekend. It was in the 70s but very windy. So hopefully we will still get a few more warm days in November before Winter arrives and I can get the boat out and test the new software. I'm back in the default settings again as I have not had time to reset everything back to where I had it. I'd do that when I get the boat out again. That may or may not be next spring.

If your looking for Mapping Examples from the Different Regions look at the first line in each Region on Page 1 I'm consolidating and adding more images for the Regions I have Mapping Cards to make it easier for you to see examples from your favorite lakes. If you have a request just let me know and I will be sure to add them to the Regional Listings.

    LakeMaster Accuracy Examples

Here is a Photo of the Area...you can see from the Side Imaging and Mapping that the details are very, very accurate of the area that is mapped. LakeMaster goes to great lengths to insure accuracy of the details.

    ---

Look at this Pond Dam and the Depth Readings and Side Imaging to confirm the exact location of the structure and the depth accuracy.

    ---

Check out the Side Imaging as I confirm the location of these road that is labelled on the LakeMaster Map

    ---

Watch for more examples to show the Accuracy and details that LakeMaster Offers. LakeMaster goes to great lengths to to scan and create the highest level of detail the first time and insure you maximum coverage of each lake they advertise, so you get the most coverage for all your fishing and navigational needs.

We've created a NEW Database on the Yahoo Side Imaging Group for those that are looking to Buy, Sell or Trade LakeMaster SD Charts or Contour Elite Software. Probably need to become a member to view: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sideim...portRows&tbl=7

Doug, Any idea when LakeMaster will offer N.C. & S.C. cards. Also I have a Ga. region card. Do I have to buy another to be able to see mapping on my bow unit that is connected by ethernet? Another question, what is the largest size SD card that can be installed and is there any mapping that can be downloaded and installed in the units? Last question. Will there be any problems if I use navionics on my bow units and Lakemaster at the console? Like when I mark a location on one and it marks on the other unit at the same time. Thanks for all the great info you continually provide.

    No, I don’t.

“Do I have to buy another to be able to see mapping on my bow unit that is connected by ethernet?”
    Yes

“what is the largest size SD card that can be installed”
    32GB SDHC memory card

“is there any mapping that can be downloaded and installed in the units”
Nothing other than the LakeMaster and Navionics mapping cards. There is some program that will allow you to a make a trackplot of a lake outline and contour lines but not a true map.

“Will there be any problems if I use navionics on my bow units and Lakemaster at the console? Like when I mark a location on one and it marks on the other unit at the same time.”
No. Each unit will use its own mapping card (no map data is shared across the Ethernet connection) and any waypoint marked on one unit will be shown at the same coordinates on each unit. Now if the maps differ in the detail that they show the same waypoint may look like it is in a different location but it isn’t as they both will be using the same coordinates.

To add...LakeMaster announces new releases around the beginning of the year so we will see where they will increase coverage for 2013. We won't know till them but that very soon.
