OK I received my Lake Master IN/OH digital map SDHC yesterday afternoon. The mail lady didn't deliver it in the normal mail and actually came back out to my house and put the box on my doorstep. Luckily I was home and able to hear her knocking on the door. I thought it was the neighbor kids until I looked outside and saw a strange vehicle parked in my driveway. I went out side and thanked her for hand delivering the package to me. I was excited to say the least. But my excitement died when I looked at the Patoka Lake map on the card. I was very dissappointed to find out that the Patoka Lake map was not High Defination and in fact it was very low defination.

On the other hand my strip pit lakes were Excellent with 1 ft contours and showed me all my fishing spots. These Lake Master Maps are setup differently on the Humminbird Menu's than the Navionics Maps. For example there is no Platinum tab on the menu for the LakeMaster Map. So you use one of the other tabs that's already there to set up the Lakemaster Maps depth offsets, and lake contour high lighted depths. I like those features a lot. I also like the abilty to show all the shallow water in red on the map. I like the fact that I can set up which depth is considered shallow water. I chose 5 ft for my map. That gives me plenty of warning of where the shallow waters are located.

There are some features that were on the Navionics Maps that I will miss. Like the 3d view and the satellite pictures of the lake from above. But those are not that big of a deal and don't really help me catch fish. They are just pretty flowery things that look nice but are not that functional.

My only wish is that they have surveyed Patoka Lake which is the second largest reservoir in the state and the one most of the people in the Southern Parts of IN Fish. Lake Monroe was done in high defination so that's a good thing. I just don't fish that lake at all. Perhaps that may change someday.

They included new huntingburg lake as well as Boggs Creek lake which was nice. I've read about those two lakes. I didn't see any other lakes that I fish.

I wish that they had included KY with IN and not OHIO. I don't fish in OH at all. I do fish KY lakes from time to time though.

I'm going to have to get out and test this new map for accuracy this weekend. I'll try to report back on what I find.

    Doug:
Do you know when Lake Master will have the CD ready for the IN/OH maps? I'd like to see what they look like on my computer. The map card that I bought won't let me see those maps on my computer and I found out that I have to buy a CD for viewing the maps on my home computer and planning a fishing trip or adding way-points to the lakes on the maps.

I don't see them advertising the CD for my lakes yet. I guess ,now that they have produced the Map Card for the Humminbirds, that they will also make a CD with the same data for the home computer.. Make sense to me.

Not only does LakeMaster offer SD Card Maps for your Humminbird and Contour Elite Trip Planning Software for your Computer but did you know they also have ...

Wall Art Lake Maps? LakeArt Landing Page 3D Aerial Lake View Prints

    Laminated Maps? laminatemapshome

    Paper Maps? Paper Maps Home

Some added tools to enhance your mapping needs on and off the water. You can use the same maps when you don't have computer or your unit powered up to study your lake or the Wall Art is really cool for Lakehouse or Fishing Cabin.

I would love to see some Ohio River shots if they are there. That is about all I fish. Would be very helpful if it was available. I fish from Shawnee all the way to Moundsville dam. I think that is 6 pools. Any shots from any of these would be awesome.

Any Idea when Lakemaster is going to get busy on Georgia??? They only have a handful of lakes done. I'd jump on one of these in a second if they had more lakes less than an hours drive from me.

I have requested images from Ohio River. I don't have a card with that area. Will post when I get some.

2012 was the first year to enter the Florida, Georgia, Alabama Market with Version 1. If it's like all their other regions each year you see continued expansion and updating of the regions. So I expect you will see them grow from year to year with fresh new data and exclusive LakeMaster features.

I purchased the Great Plains version 2 in late Feb. of this year. Found out recently version 3 came out in March. I was new to all this at the time and did not jump on my opportunity to get an upgrade to version 3.

I contacted LakeMaster and they say they will upgrade your card within 30 days of your purchase if there is a new version out.

Thought I would share this info.

I know a lot of guys in my area that go to fish at Newton and they love that lake. They all went there a lot this past winter and last fall.

I have not fished it and probably won't be buying another Lake Master Map just to get lake maps of those IL lakes. I fish in IN and sometimes at KY lake. But I feel it's too costly to be buying all these Lake Master Maps for each state. At least the Navionics give you more states and many more lakes. Their maps may not be as detailed but from what I've seen on the lake I fish the Lakemaster Map may show 1 ft contours but the contour lines are not as accurate as I want. I've been out several times now with the new IN/OH map and fished on Bluegrass Pit in Warrick County only to find that the map does not match the depth where I'm fishing. Some areas that show up on the map as being only7 ft deep are actually in 20 ft of water.

I was hoping that the map offset might help of that the lake level adjustment would help. But I'm not sure what level the lake was at when they did the survey and there is no way to find out how much the lake is down or up. I know it's probably down a few feet from this spring but I don't even know when the lake was surveyed. So what I ended up doing was parking the boat on the bank and then adjusting the lake offset depth to make the 2 ft depth at the back of my boat to a 2 ft depth on my lake master map. I even accounted for the fact that my transducer is sitting about 1 ft below the surface of the water as it's mounted near the bottom of my boat's transom. I added 1 ft of water depth to my humminbird unit's depth readings. Now the readings are referenced from the surface not the bottom of my transducer. Still the depths I was fishing didn't always match the map depths. At time they matched up pretty good. It all depends on which area of the lake I'm testing.

Best way to set Depth Offset is like you did. Use your sonar returns and then zoom in on a contour line and match the Contour Depth to the Sonar Depth Reading with the Lake Level Offset. Your going to be within 1 or 2 Foot. My Skeeter drafts 14" so I leave it because it gives me a depth cushion so I don't run aground.

LakeMaster is planning to expand to all states but they are taking steps as they get data gathered. I have no idea which states are next but they will continually expand as they continue to grow.
