Yes I know... That's the same as humminbird explains the direction sensor.. It must not be so.... Or how do you explain a spot lock being to the right of the boat icon on the 360 display and centered on the boat? On maps on all 3 units spot lock is on the nose of the boat icon.

Ill buy another one to wire near the tm and see I suppose.

Seeing the results, been thinking of getting a "forward looking" sonar.
Did lots of reading on all the great info on here and have some practical questions for the 360 and the Bird units:

    1. How well does the 360 perform on (east coast) tidal, grass rivers in 8' and less water for large mouth bass? (Concern is with the tides stirring sand etc and making out a fish or structure/grass)

    2. Which unit(s)(Helix mega, Onix, Solix) are best for viewing 360 on bow mount while standing? (6' tall) And are the fish easily identifiable?

    3. Did you choose 360 after making switch from other brand? Seems as though each has apparent strengths.

    Much appreciated

360 works good for me in all instances. Panoptix was a PITA from day one. Look at some of the issue threads on the Garmin forum. They aren't lying....

Pfish'r and Jbass - good feedback. I will continue to see what postings show for resolution. I am really just trying to eliminate water quicker with the 360. Any screenshots of river 360 in 3-6' would be great.

Does anyone here think that 360 for 1000 dollars is sorta not worth it after using it for a while?
thinking of buying but is it worth the money honestly and makes a big difference?

I bought the bow model about a month before the $500 price drop and I would do it again. The original MSRP for the bow version was $1499.99 and $1999.00 for the transom model.

I have used it with a 1198c SI Combo, ONIX 10 SI, SOLIX 12 SI, and Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS.

It is more of a fishing tool than a search tool. If you want to "eliminate water" use Side Imaging. After you find the fish/develop a pattern, then use the 360.

After using it a few years, I couldn't do without it. I would pay double if I had to.

I love mine!! This weekend I went to a rock pile I found on side imaging two weeks ago! I put the 360 on it and found a large tree right next to the rocks! Caught a 2lber and a 3 1/2 lber. Fished that area for years and never saw it!

This issue looks to be totally a software issue where the preset "zoom ratio" is not set correctly, or as large as the Helix units.

Will the factory fix this via a software update in the future?

It is not zoom ratio, it is how the 360 view is displayed on the two different models with different operating software. There is no zoom involved with that setting.

It may or may not be duplicated with a software update. It has been requested.

No, soft bottom would have weaker return echoes and darker images than the same settings over a hard bottom.
