    Humminbird 360 Imaging Information Resource

Feb 23, 2012 at the BASSmaster Classic Humminbird announces the newest technology that will change the Electronics Industry and the way we fish forever. You can now see forward where you are fishing. This new system is more than just a transducer. It's a Deployment System and Imaging Dome. MSRP $1,999.00

    Why?

Because for 360 Imaging to get 150' of coverage it has to be below the lowest point of the boat...lower then the outboard and trolling motor or it would block the sonar from travelling any additional distance. So the Imaging Dome needs a way to stay straight and pointing forward plus be lowered to the proper depth to get total clearance. You have it with Humminbirds 360 Imaging System. Alot of the internal components will not be discussed since this technology is Patent Pending and most do not know because they cannot release this data while the Patent Application Process takes place all we know is the "Magic" happens in the Imaging Dome.

The Shape of the Shaft had to be specially designed so the Imaging Dome did not have any lateral, horizontal or other directional movement when it was being pulled thru the water. This is why this shape of this shaft resembles and airplane wing it allows the water to be split that is hitting the shaft and reduce drag but the narrow rear side the water begins pinching the shaft from both sides to increase the stability and allows the 360 Imaging unit to be used at speed. There has been testing that has exceeded 30mph and approaching 40mph with the 360 Imaging retracted with no harm. BUT there is a built in alarm when retracted that notifies the operator that the 360 Imaging unit in down when you exceed 15mph so you can raise if you forget.

The Imaging Dome can be raised or lowered from any unit connected to the Ethernet Network or Directly to the 360 Imaging. Or there is a manual control button to operate the unit on top of the Deployment System.

The 360 Imaging is an Ethenet Accessory that is controlled and operated by Ethernet Hook-up. It can be hooked direct to a single unit or connected via a 5 Port Ethernet Hub to Multiple Units. Since the Ethernet Hubs are stackable (connect via cable to one another) the Number of Units running a Humminbird is endless you just need multiple hubs and it can be done. As of the official release only the current Ethernet Systems on the 798ci HD, 898c, 998c, and 1198c can operate the 360 Imaging. Units already in the field will only need software update that Humminbird will provide at no charge to allow the 360 Imaging to connect to models that are already in the field. The only ethernet unit not compatible at this time is the 1197c which the internal working of the Ethernet system are different...my understanding they are reviewing to see if future compatibility will be adaptable.

    Full Screen View

Or just look to a portion from 10 Degree to 360 Degrees User Selectable. If you reduce coverage it will increase refresh rate. You can adjust the amount of coverage and direction of coverage with the 4 Way Cursor.

There are some great menu control options very similar to SI Menu
    - Imaging Colors same as SI or DI
    - Imaging Enhance - Sensitivity, Contrast, Sharpness and Contour Mode
    - Imaging Senitivity
    - Imaging Range from Up to Max 150 Foot in all directions or you can reduce
    - Imaging Range Rings to help Tell Distance
    - Imaging Speed - 4 Levels from Slow or Highest Detail Level to Fast - Quicker Refresh Rate

    Doug,

I have a question regarding the pasted statement below. Is this in reference to the Ethernet unit only, or to the "head" unit, i.e. 998c?

As of the official release only the current Ethernet Systems on the 798ci HD, 898c, 998c, and 1198c can operate the 360 Imaging. Units already in the field will only need software update that Humminbird will provide at no charge to allow the 360 Imaging to connect to models that are already in the field. The only ethernet unit not compatible at this time is the 1197c which the internal working of the Ethernet system are different...my understanding they are reviewing to see if future compatibility will be adaptable.

Doug, Where are guys going to mount the pole if they have double power poles or talons? Looks like this may be an issue?

Re: Humminbird 360 Imaging Information Resource (wbfishon)

All the Units must have current Ethernet Hardware built inside to operate the 360 Imaging Unit. Any 998c has that circuitry. If it does not have the software (Which no units prior to the release woould) Humminbird is going to up date all 998c with software so this feature can be used with it in the future.

If you only have one unit you can hook the 360 Imaging Direct to the Unit. IF you have more than 1 Unit and want to share or network those units with the 360 Imaging System you will need the 5 Port Ethernet Hub.

    Did that answer your question?

MinnKota has already taken care of that for the Talons. They will have a bracket to mount the 360 Imaging and Talon on the Same Bracket.

Flooded spillway picture shows depth of 1.6 feet, looks more like 25.

Also, do you know if the readings will go away on this like the upcoming SI screens? It will be hard to see detail on an 898 screen.

A few of those screen shots, the depth doesn't seem to make sense.

Yeah, the water column is bigger and the depth shows 1.6 feet? Is this really a bridge piling that shallow?

I see zoom on one of the other images, but certainly not on the bridge piling image. Guessing that isn't what's going on in the image. Looking at this, it's hard to believe this is even a real image. The black circle is the water under the boat so just how far apart could the bridge pilings be?

    zoom

    No zoom

    Re: (mduncan62)

You have to remember the Depth Readout comes from the 2D Sonar 200 kHz Frequency on all units no matter what technology you are using. These images came from the marketing department while testing the units and I will find out how they were getting 2D readings.

They are REAL images from 360 Imaging Unit.

I notice on this image that the black donut around the boat is what you'd expect for 2ft of water. So it seems possible that the marketing department is creating/manufacturing these images? I assume these images will be "corrected" to show a depth that's realistic.
