I have it transom mounted, flush with the bottom of the transom on a '05 Nitro nx898 and instead of it kicking up like its supposed to it breaks the mount off and pulls the cable from the transducer. This is getting expensive, the 2nd transducer was only in the water once.
If you are running in that type of water you need to install a bilge mount transducer for a signal at speed and move the HDSI transducer higher on the transom.

The mount can be bent out for an easier release if you want to try that.....

Typically when you keep breaking the XNT mount, it is because you overtighten the mount screws and/or place the mount base on a surface that is not flat.
In either case the mount is weakened by being distorted.

If you would have exchanged the XNT 9 SI 180 T for the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T, you would have a more sturdy mount and better transducer.

im having problems with my 1198 turning off for no reason and a couple of the buttons are sticking..i called them and they said it would be $500 to fix...does anyone think that is high on a $2800 unit that is just barely out of warranty

The 1199's are EOL product, and they ran production for 2 years - like the 1198 & 1197's before them.
Either you bought old stock or it's a shade over 2 years old.
It's about $2300 MSRP for the Helix 12 SI GPS (current replacement model).
If you like the unit, pony up - or consider something else.
I like my 1199 almost as well as my Helix 12 DI GPS.
If I had to pay to get one fixed, I probably would.
I know $500 is a chunk of change, but nothing good is ever cheap!

I can only say that I have only required to send something to repair twice in the 30+ years I have been using H'bird. Just last week I have to seen my 999 in because the treaded insert where you mount the unit had fallen out. Contacted them, sent me some shipping and customer ID data and off it went by UPS. I told the nice folks on the phone that had to be in a tournament in 6 days. I was told they would try to get it out in time. Well, it was back the morning on the day I was to depart in afternoon for the pre-fish exercise. Both times that I have used them, they are the best and always turn things fast, even during the peak season for repairs. Thanks Folks.

Was returning to the boat ramp and found my xtm 9 wide di 20 t hanging from my trolling motor.

Reading on these forums, I paid particular attention to NOT over tightening the mounting strap. I tightened it to a point where I could still move it easily but minimized gaps.

Looks like the tabs that you thread the strap through still broke. I am sure I am not the only one who experienced this. This is a design flaw. Perhaps the TM bumped against something...I understand they cant cover any and all physical damage (even on a brand new unit like mine)....but certainly they can accommodate for normal use and design a better product by reinforcing with a thicker material or use a forgiving rubber material in these critical locations.

CS Rep placed the blame on misuse. To add insult to injury, I think the CS rep was having a bad day and was borderline rude. I had to call Minn Kota earlier and they were very nice and accommodating. They might need some cross training for their HBird CS Reps.

One easy idea. Allow a customer to replace such an item at a discounted price....especially if within one year of original purchase. Make it a part of their "Select" program.

Shipping costs sure have risen cause my 1199 shipped the same way...same insurance was 45.60 from Kansas City. Crazy high if you ask me.

I have been having problems with my 1199ci HDSI for the last 6 months. sent it back 3 times then they tell me that they will send me a new unit What I get looks like a rebuilt. scratch in screen the backlight&backscreen menu will not come up when I push the button and there is something rolling around in the inside of the unit. They sent me a overnight FEDEX invoice last time to mail it back but then they send the unit back buy ground and that takes 7 days to get to California After all the problems I have had you would think they would be nice enough to send me a unit with overnight express This last unit came back in the box that I mailed my unit in. I wonder what is going on with them Now I set here waiting for them to return my phone call that I made this morning All I get told is someone will call back within 24hr. I don't think that is very good service. My next step I guess will be legal action if I cannot get this problem fixed.

I have called customer service twice about a problem with a relatively new Helix 5 DI. It is united with a MinKota i-pilot transducer. I have also purchased and installed a southeast edition of LakeMaster maps this week but cannot get the Lake List to appear anywhere on my unit's menu. I am also having trouble with the depth digital readout. It will show the correct depth briefly but most of the time shows numbers like 82, 87, 91 most of the time when the actual depth is in the range of 12-20 ft. The lady that I talked to in customer service wasn't able to help and seemed like she might have never really used (understood) this model. I have been very disappointed. I live in KY and am planning a trip to AL this week so I will just play it by ear, I suppose.

    Thank you, Robert.
I corresponded with Colibri service center, they wrote to me that I would send them this unit. Or do I need an official return authorization? They simply respond within 3 days. But I can send the unit only on Tuesday

Upgraded both ducers for a helix 7 DI and a 7 SI. Paid in full for new ducers so I didn't have to wait for the slow exchange. Received an email today stating they only received one ducer, both were in the same package! They only credited me for the one. Sent an email, interested to see the response tomorrow.

I just sent in my 1199 on 4-26-17. UPS says it will deliver on 5-1-17 so we will see how good their turnaround is. I will keep you posted.

Humminbird received my 1199 on 5-1-17 and shipped it back on 5-2-17, I received it today 5-4-17 here in Michigan. I appreciate the speed they turned it around but they say they found nothing wrong with it. When I shipped it to them it would not even turn on. All it would do is start up to the point you see thr Humminbird symbol and freeze. You couldn't turn it on or off after that, all you could do is unplug it. I have the same unit on the bow and the council and swap them and the unit that was working would work in both spots. The unit that quit working would not work on the bow or the council area. So I knew it was not a power issue or a transducer issue.

I have no idea what they did other than run a diagnostic on it, but they must have reset it somehow. I put it on the boat and it powered right up like it should. I will take it to the lake in a couple days To see if everything is working OK.
