DI mode is very helpfull for Ice fishing as well. It allow to see even small fish (3-4 inches) far away of ice hole at very bottom in completely dead zone (for 2D). One can get absolutely identical mirror images of the same place with some time interval, and comparing them to see that any difference in them is caused by fish.

You mean it looks unbelievable???!!!... Now I see why Humminbird did not reply me :) The more important think is - is it hepfull? I find it very helpfull for ice fishing - it can do that normal sonar can not.

I have just started using the DI in ice hole, and did not see big fish yet. Actually, in winter, there is no good fish in our lake here in KAZAKHSTAN. Once I saw something about 1 pound at very bottom, I guess it was a brim - the rest of fish is white fish 2-3 inches long. I am planning to go on fishing closer to power station, probably their I will see and catch bigger pikes and perches :)

Humminbird 385 ci DI with two DI transducers: "UFO" - depth is 30ft, 300 ft away of bank, diameter of the object is 20ft. All screenshots were taken in one ice hole"

Are you rocking the transducer with your hand to get these images?

Last year I used hand made mechanical drive (worm reducer from old gitar) than I used hand made electrical drive, now I am using hand made spring drive - it is very simple and quick for repetition, and can take pictures deep under ice (not only from ice). I hope Humminbird will factory manufacture similar reliable drives.
