    Request for a tip

I was cleaning out the boat Saturday, hoping it will get warm one of these days, and I came across my absolute most important emergency boating accessory, my roll of toilet paper. Of course, it was useless after being in the boat so long and absorbing moisture, even in the plastic coffee can I store it in. Anybody got a good idea for a storage container that will hold a roll and keep it dry?

I have mine in a ziplock storage bag. I guess I better check it when I pull the cover off this spring.

I've used the ziplock before, but had trouble with the roll getting squashed. Thought the plastic coffee cans were the ticket when they came out, but they really don't seal very well.

Put the zip lock sealed roll in the coffee can. Now it keeps shape and stays dry. For me, dry is a higher priority than keeping it's shape.

Actually, the ziplock in the can was my solution Saturday. It just seems like there ought to be some kind of watertight can that would hold a roll. I was in the grocery yesterday checking out things that came in plastic containers that were close to the right size. Glad nobody asked what I was looking for

One thing I saw was a new square mayonaisse "jar". I think it's too small, and I didn't have enough nerve to carry it to the TP aisle and check.

who need toilet paper, that is what they make socks and shirt sleeves for. It is always funny at weigh in, you can tell who doesnt have paper on their boats. A missing sock or one sleeve off their t-shirt ripped off. I keep mine in a ziplock freezer bag, works great!

It kind of comes unrolled so you can wind up with a big wad of paper instead of a roll.

You are probably trying to use the sandwich bag size bags. If this is all you have just roll off about 1/3 of the roll and put it in the bag. Get the large size zip lock bags. Get the ones with a double track seal and they will not leak or leave any moisture in. I have kept some in my boat and towed it during rain storm and the lockers leaked but the TP stayed dry. Hope this helps.

i have a food saver (vacume packer) and i tear off a looong piece fold it up then vacume it . it takes up very little space and if you do 10 or so you can throw some in the truck and hunting pack. you never have to worry about it getting wet or in the way

When you go to put the lid on the coffee can take a piece of saran wrap over the can then put the lid on. This will give you a better seal.

I just take 2 sandwich bags and stick the roll most of the way in one and then cover with the other bag. In my old boat the compartments leaked constantly and tp never got wet.

Re: Request for a tip (TR22BILL)

As mentioned above, Charmin is who makes TP in sealed packs. There is no cardboard center and there are only 50 - 100 sheets or so, but they come in a small plastic container. I keep one of these on the boat and a few more at home. It take up less space than a can of reel magic or about the size of the really small WD-40 cans.

I use wet wipes (seriously) they not only give you that oh so clean feeling they have scented to help some of you stinkers out there and if you get the nonscented they double to remove the bad smells from your hands or hand that absorb into soft plastics such as gas after filling the boat before you get on the water or after scratching the goodies if you havent showered in a few days LOL
