Hey guys I am in the middle of doing a nice new upgrade to my boat.
I am removing the padded rod locker lid, also cut open the end of rod box and removed all the foam to allow longer rods to fit in the box.
My buddie who is helping me do the work will be along shortly with pictures of the work so far.

Im not a fisherman but I know my way around fiberglass and custom work so here are the pictures of the start of this project. Carpet is removed and glass is being cut. We are going to Make a more usable and bigger rod locker. More on that later in the build.
This is the first time Im using my new camera and Im not sure of the picture size yet.
This is a view into the foot control cutout area. Scott defoamed the area and then drilled a hole in the end of the rod area tunnel. We then cut part of the side of the tunnel out to make more room and allow rods to go further into the hull.
I then foamed the side of the rod storage area and shaped it to be like the other side of the hull. I will glass this over and it will be all covered inside the rod locker area in a foam not carpet.

It will be finished. So far we have two days into it, so now we are ordering carpet and other supplys and start putting back together as soon as we can
Looks good Scott. I had a 363V for 20 years and always wanted to fix that rod locker. I took the easy way out and bought a 519DVX last year.
Scott, did the 363 have seats where the rod box was? Where are you running the drain tube for the foot control? I ran mine in the front and ran drain tube down the front drain line in my boat. I also utilized a bolt and two washers and two nuts. I tan the bolt from the underside of the trolling motor tray and then placed a washer and nut securing the bolt to tray. I then inserted another waher on top of the nut and then placed the trolling motor foot on them. Then i placed waher and nut on top of trolling foot and secured nut/washer on bolt. This will come in handy if you ever need to remvoe the foot pedal and keep the nuts/bolt from falling underside of the trolling motor tray. Great to keep foot pedal from bouncing around during hard water

looking good. The rest of us 363V owners will be jealous. I gave up on using that rod locker a long time ago. But I have kids so I keep the seat up there for them. I'm in the middle of restoring my '88 363V right now as well so if you wan to compare notes on anything let me know.

What color seats do you have ??? My front seat cushions and wrap around pad are mint they are red and blue if your interested let me know .
They were brand new like 5 years ago from ranger, the original owner totally restored it before he sold it using all genuine ranger parts
I have had the boat for three years
Charcoal is the carpet color we are shooting for but many different Charcoals out there.

Out of curiosity have you measured to see how long of rods you will be able to fit in the locker after the modification is done?

I have not measured but I was told by another BBC member who also did a mod like this that he ha a 7'11 in his with a rod sock .
We haven't tried yet but if they wanted they could go all the way up to the tip of bow where all the wiring is if you wanted to it just empty space.
We are going to creation a tunnel out of foam so the rod guides don't get snagged

Started fabing the frame. Still more pieces to the puzzle to come. We'll see how progress is this weekend.
How are you going to secure the new frame to the existing fiberglass?
