Has anyone tried NewGlass2 on faded black gelcoat?

Hello and Merry Christmas to all BBC readers. I've been reading on the NewGlass2 site and it seems to be a great product. I'd like to know if any of you folks have tried it on a dark colored faded boat. I'm thinking of something to do on my rig and just may give NewGlass2 a try. Please let me know your experiences with the product or is there something else to try. Thanks in advance, Limmy

I've never used newglass or any of those type products and am by no means an expert on them, but I think the consensus is they will look good for a while, but you have to keep reapplying the product then at some point you've got a gob of stuff that will not look good and needs to be removed. If there is not enough clear left on your boat to wetsand and buff, find a paint man who will work with ya, if you're looking to save some $$ and see if you can do all the prep work, stripping the boat, sanding, etc. let them spray with clear gel and then sand the boat and put it back together yourself. Spraying gelcoat would be the easy part, it's all the other work that is a pain in the rear.

Is it faded or just gummed up with hard water deposits? I thought that I was going to need to clear my old boat last year, '87 Winner 2000 II. Had a local paint and body guy look at it and he recomended a product from 3M called Finess-it available at parts stores here. I applied it with a white paper towel to start with and finished it with a variable speed buffer from Harbor Freight. Had guys in my club ask me who I got to do the boat as they were amazed at the looks. It's a lot of work but well worth it. There is also some stuff called Aquabuff that I found on the web that might be OK.http://www.aqua-buff.com

I have used NewGlass 2 and have had good luck with it. I applied 8 coats to the top ca[p of my boat then a couple days later waxed it. I keep my boat under a carport with the cover on when not in use and 7 months later it looks the same as when I did it.
